I feel really dumb asking this question because I dont normally get on the internet and just get into anything, but has anyone ever tried those get paid for doing surveys? I stay at home and like everyone else would like to stay at home and earn some extra income to pay off that neverending debt ;). I am very curious about doing it but at the same time I dont want to get myself into something that I shouldn't. Any suggestions? Thank you!!

What can I do next?

When I first stayed home with my son 8 years ago, I wanted to do the same thing find a way to work from home and I will be honest and say I never found anything. I will give you a piece of advice someone gave me, if they ask you to send them money it is probably a scam so steer clear of the ones that want you to pay for a start up kit or whatever. Just keep in mind if it was easy to get rich working from home don't you think a lot of people would be doing this? The only people I know that make money working from home are people who were established with their employer and given the option or those that sell things such as mary kay, avon, etc.

Hi D.,

Unfortunately these are not a great way to earn any real income. If you keep your options open in terms of earning extra income from home in part time hours please feel free to give me a call, I've helped many generate a full time income w/part time hours w/o selling.

D., in my experience the survey things are either a points system where you can redeem points for merchandise and sometimes cash or you get entered into a drawing when you do surveys and you may or may not receive cash prizes. I don't know about the ones where they actually pay you for each survey completed? Not much help, I guess! Sorry!

But, I do have a home-based business that has been really awesome for me! It is in the health and wellness industry and I would love to share more about it with you! Let me know if you would be interested in learning more about it. YOu can check it out at www.stacybrazington.myarbonne.com.

Good luck with everything!

I am a part of several survey sites, but like others have mentioned, it's not a big money maker. Actually, it's really not even a little money maker. :) The majority of them promise you big bucks, but don't deliver. There are very few legitimate sites. I do belong to Survey Savvy. In the 2+ years that I have done surveys for them (which you have to answer prelim questions for and don't always qualify to take the full blown survey), I have earned $212. So like I said above, it's not a big money maker...and this is my biggest one! LOL If you are interested in joining (they are one of the few that you don't get spam because of), below is a link. It's "my" link, so if you decide to join through my link, I get some sort of credit.
To sign up, click on the following link:

I also belong to MySurvey. With them, you build up points and can trade them in for gift certificates, prizes or cash. The majority of their surveys pay you 10 points for the initial survey, then if you meet the qualifications and continue with the survey, it pays more points. The more points you earn, the bigger check you can request, but it takes awhile. No survey site that I know of offers a quick turn around. Again, here's "my" link for MySurvey if you want to join.

To be honest, for both of the sites above, I save up my points. Then, around the beginning of November, I turn in my points for cash so that I can have some "unexpected" extra money for Christmas. It's worked for me for the last two Christmasses and it was nice to have some additional funds. A part-time job it is not, but I think it's fun, doesn't take much time (neither site sends daily emails...it's usually 3 or 4 a month) and it has allowed me to have a little extra money at a time when I needed it.

I agree with all the others so far. My experience was a joke, my inbox was flooded with so much garbage. Every survey I was ever sent "paid" with an entry into their monthly sweepstakes. Some of these surveys could take more than 15 or twenty minutes - not what I considered a fair trade to do it multiple times a day. Those testimonials they use on those sites for making so much money seem like a scam to me. I am embarassed that I ever paid $39.95 to get involved in such a mess, I usually don't fall for "too good to be true" scams like that. I'd love to meet one person who genuinly ever made any money from taking surveys. My advice - don't do it.

Both my husband & I joined several survey sites, hoping to make a little extra money from home. Most of them we found didn't offer any kind of real compensation. My husband did surveys for a year on one site and made $50 for the entire year. Pretty much a waste of time.

I have found a business that I am so proud to be a part of. I absolutely love what I do! I'd be happy to share all of the details with you!

I am a Mom and I work for one of the survey companies. No you will not get rich from these surveys but you do get invited to try products from time to time and when you do get an invitation to take the survey and you qualify for the actual survey you will receive a check. I am proud to work for the company I work for. If you are interested in checking it out please visit....

Don't do it. The greatest thing I ever got was a 25 gift card. Often times you have to "agree" to buy so many products first. Some are legitimate, but it takes hours to weed out just one. So not worth it.
