My wonderful husband gave me a massage gc for my birthday. I am worried that I wont be able to use it until I am done nursing my 4 month old. My concern is that I will start leaking on the table. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with this. Any advice is appriciated.
Thanks in advance.

I got a massage w/in the first 2-3 months after having my son. I even had my son there he was sleeping. I myself did not start leaking.

Hi M.!
You'll be fine. Just pump milk before you head to your massage. I had to continue laying on my side because on my belly hurt the chest!! I had massages while pregnant and laying on the side is nice too.
Enjoy the TLC!

Hi M.-
I have a 3 month old at home and have had a couple of much needed massages since she was born. The first time I was a little embarrassed but when the massage therapist said ok, go ahead and get undressed and then get under the sheet, I asked her if it was ok that I kept my bra on because I was nursing and I didn't want to leak all over. She said not to worry, and to take it off and she just put a towel down that was folded over a couple of times. When it was time for me to turn over, I just took the towel and moved it over my chest. It was fine. The next time I went, I told the therapist (a different one) that I was nursing and could she put a towel down and she said no problem, so I think it is pretty common, or at least they acted like it was no big deal! I hope you enjoy your massage!!

I got one when my daughter was 5 months old and it was sooo worth it! If you are worried about leaking, just pump right before you go. Chances are though,if you are laying on your stomach you won't . I would tell them you are nursing. If you do leak, they use new clean sheet for every one, so they'll wash them anyway, so it's really no biggie, it can't be worse than anything else that's ever gotten on the sheets from other clients.Just have them use plain oil with no scents or herbs in it. Just be sure to drink a lot of water. I wouldn't worry about it. I would go and enjoy it!!!!!! You'll probably sleep through most of it any way, oh and don't be shy if you need to tell the person to shut up. I would shower when you get home though incase any of the oil gets on your nipples by accident.Enjoy! You need to really relax!

It's not uncommon to leak. But I'll bet you need a massage more than ever! Just leave your bra on with nursing pads in or place a towel across your chest and you'll be just fine!

I had a massage when my daughter was 2.5 mos old and had no problems. I think I had another one or two during the year that she nursed and didn't have any problems. I nursed her right before I went and it was fine. The only issue I had was, at first, it was very uncomfortable to lay on my stomach, but I just shifted around until it was ok (and the massage definitely helped to take my mind off of it, too!!) Go enjoy yourself!!

M.,
I'm nursing too and have gotten massages recently. When I was leaking a lot I wore a sleep nursing bra with pads inside during the massage. Motherhood Maternity sells sleep bras. They're very comfortable, almost like not wearing one. For me, the cotton pads are much more comfortable than disposable nursing pads, which tear up my nipples. The cotton pads are available anywhere, like Target or Babierus. If you leak a lot, try using baby wash cloths instead of cotton pads. You could also bring a towel to lay down on the massage table. Massage therapists do wash their sheets between each massage...so if you do end up leaking, it's really no big deal.
Enjoy your massage!

I had a massage when my son was 4 months old too (nursing full time). It wasn't an issue for me either. When you're on your stomach the pressure on your breasts will keep them from leaking. Just make sure you feed your girl shortly before you go in for it :) I'd use it - nothing like a massage to make you temporarily forget you're a mom (in a good way).

Oh gosh, I just said "i'm nursing I hope i don't leak" and we threw a towel on the girls just in case. I didn't end up needing it though. Just make sure you nurse before hand so the any pressure doesn't make you uncomfortable!

I had one when my son was 10 mos and was fine (and he was still exclusively breastfed), although I know earlier I might have leaked. I would just ask them to put a folded towel under your chest, they always have extras, and try to schedule it right after a feeding. Although if your kids are like mine, that whole scheduling idea can be pretty crazy :)

I was a leaking machine! Just nurse before you go and if you are uncomfortable or nervouse about leaking wear a bra with nursing pads. You can always unhook the back for the massage. Also, massage therapist are professional and have seen it all. Just explain your situation and they will guide you!

Enjoy!

I had a massage done while I was nursing and it wasn't an issue. What they did was put a pillow under my chest to make me more comfortable. I didn't have any leaking problems, and I felt comfortable once they did that. If you want, you could bring your own pillow and if you leak, they won't know it since it is yours. :)

Hello :) I am a massage therapist. We know the human body in and out, and are understanding of all things like this :) If it is a concern for you, just explain that to the therapist ( i am sure you can request a woman if you feel more comfortable) how you feel and I am sure he/she will do anything they can to accomodate you and make you feel at ease. After all, their job is to make you relaxed! I wouldnt worry about it.
