I am having a little boy in August and I need a gently used or inexpensive baby crib. What would be the best way to look for one?

What can I do next?

Hello, and congratulations on the upcoming baby! If you're looking for "preowned" goods, I've had some success with craigslist.com, where you can click on baby stuff and your local area to see what other people are trying to sell (or donate) locally to you. Also, I bought a Cosco portable crib from Babies R Us for $60, and it works out great. It's metal and holds up to 50 pounds, so your son can use it for quite a while. It folds down so it could fit in the back of my car when I go out of town to visit family. It rolls (but has brakes) so that I can have my son near me while I am cleaning around the house, or so I can get the crib out of the way when I need more space. The mattress has 2 different heights so that as your son grows, you can lower the setting so he won't be able to climb out.

Try garage sales or a consignment shop for children. Just be sure to check that the crib meets current standards (you can check online for info)!! Some reccomend not buying used because of safety issues but I believe as long as it comes from a nice place (check your surroundings to see that everything is kept up & in good condition!) it is just fine. I was going to buy a new crib but was not looking forward to the expense seeing as it is used under 2 years - I lucked out and came across a garage sale in a very nice area and bought my daughters crib for $35!!! Also make sure that the crib is sturdy.....you might ask if it can be put together before you purchase it - a pain but worth it for the sake of your baby's safety! Good luck!

Hi, I have a gently used baby crib, and I've been asking $50, and with some bedding included, $60. I'm flexible on the price, though, and if you want to see a picture of the bed, go to http://frimp.net/item/11993137

Hope this helps, and congrats!

I have a white crib you could have for free if you can come and get it--I live in North Fort Worth. We used it for two boys, and has been in the attic for a couple years now, but it's still in pretty good shape. We have the mattress and you can have it, but you might want to look into getting a new one. I think I have a couple crib sheets (if I can find them you can have those too), but I already got rid of the bedding.

If you are interested, let me know and we can arrange a time for you to come get it.

I live in Hurst and have seen all kinds of Yard sales with baby stuff on the weekends the last few weeks. I found some great stuff for my son's room last year when I was pregers with him. I found good stuff at Yard sales, Thrift Town (off of 26), Once Upon A Child (think that was in Arlington),Ebay and even from friends and family. We did see some cheap but good cribs at a few of these places but my mom got us a crib at Wal-mart for $99 and it looks and work great!

Craigslist is where I have found everything for my third boy that is due at the end of July!

I sold everything I had after my second, thinking I wouldn't have anymore! Life is full of surprises! I would recommend getting a bassinet for the first couple of months though. They are fairly inexpensive, I bought a really nice one for $20 on Craigslist. I probably won't even use my crib the first few months! Hope you find a nice one!

My friend has one that she is trying to sell. It's got a small crack in a corner that she says can be easily fixed with wood glue. Just for that fact, I'm sure she would be VERY reasonable in selling it. Send me a message if you are intersted and I'll ask her how much she wants for it. It's a light wood color. Thanks!
