Garnier Fructis Products for Daughter's Curly Hair?

My almost 5 year old has very curly hair. I'm looking for a shampoo and more importantly, a leave-in conditioner that would help her hair be curly rather than frizzy and also moisturize it. I heard that Garnier Fructis has good products for curly hair, but there are so many (online) that I don't know what to choose. Thoughts? Also, if anyone buys them online, what site has good prices and low/free shipping?

I love paul mitchell for my daughter, Yes it can be expensive for the botles but I only spend aprx $50 a year for her it lasts so long, I use the spray in conditioner also. Fructis has a lot of "not so good stuff" in it.

Our daughter has that same hair. It's like Shirley Temple and Don King had a baby. She's like Shirley King.

We do use the Garnier Fructis products. We use kid shampoo, but then I put in the Leave-in-Conditioner, come it through, and then use the sleek and shine anti frizz stuff by Garnier as well (it's clear and in a clear pump bottle with a green pump) and comb that through. It makes a huge difference when we use it and her hair is beautiful, but MommaL is right, don't comb it or brush it after you scrunch it up and let it dry or it's back to Shirley King.

We used Pantene's leave in conditioner spray and it made her hari crunchy.
We used the John Freida Frizz-Eaze and it made it kind of gummy greasy feeling, although it doesn't do that to my adult hair.
We used the V-05 Leave in conditioner and it did the same thing as the frizz-eaze.

Our very best luck has been the Garnier, because my daughter's hair looks beautiful, smells like peaches, isn't nearly as frizzy and it doesn't do any of the yucky things the other products did.

We are currently looking for the world's widest toothed comb.

Hope this helps,

L.

I also have curly, dry hair. I like the sleek and shine, and I also use suave's de-frizz cream.

Hi T.
I too have a daughter with extremely curly hair, her twin's hair is poker straight. She always has had curly hair, I used Dove on her hair, the antifrizz kind. Garnier Fructis is great on her hair now that she is 20, but I can tell you the best thing we ever did for her curly thick and impossible to comb hair was to have the hair dresser thin it. I loved their long hair, so when someone said "thin it" I was upset but it didn't even look like it had been cut, but there was a full dust pan when she swept up the hair that was on the floor. Ask a hair dresser what they think.
The other thing I will say is don't use something all over her head til you are sure it is not going to create a problem. One day when they were about 5 we went swimming and then washed the chlorine out and shampooed their hair. Some kind of chemical reaction and their hair matted together. What a mess especially with that curly hair. Don't know what it was but I was always careful to test shampoos after that.
God bless you and enjoy her beautiful curls that mean she won't have to have a perm to get some.

You may have to try several products until you find what is right for her hair. Just for me detangler works the best on my daughter to detangle for combing and styling. but if i'm leaving her hair out for that curly look i put mixed chicks conditioner on. these are the best after trying ALOT of diff. products

I have frizzy curly hair and I often use a dab of olive oil on the ends and on top to keep the frizz down. Don't wash too often and if it did get too oily you could use baby powder in a pinch. It's cheap and great if you don't have anything else on hand that works well.

Ouidad is pricey, but excellent for curly hair. They have a produce line for kids. Products are sold in select salons, and their web page oudiad.com.

I'm a stylist and my favorite product for curly, frizzy hair is Sebation's Potion no. 9. It works great on ethnic or bi-racial hair, but also works on finer hair if used in smaller doses. You can get it either in a thick creme, in which you gently massage it in the hair after it has been washed and towel dried, or in a spray that you can spray in (spray is best for the finer hair). It's a little more expensive, but it works amazingly and is very concentrated so you don't use up as much as a store brand.

One way to cut down on the frizz, is to not comb it, just lightly pick out some of the tangles, working from the bottom up. then hand form the curls back, gently towel dry t by pressing the towel and forming those curls with it. Once hair is dry, do not comb, brush, mess with it at all, just reform curls or work out a tangle if you need.

Very course and curly hair does a lot better if you only wet/shampoo it every few days.

Here is a good place to compare prices for online shopping:

I used the garnier fructis product on my hair. I have very thick, curly hair. I use the curl care line... Wasn't too impressed with the leave-in conditioner, but I love the curl care mousse. I did decide to try something else (shampoo-wise) and grabbed the Dove frizz control shampoo/conditioner, and I love it soo much more! It's about the same price, but a lot more gentle and my hair feels silkier. Another tip... rinse her hair with as cold of water as she will let you use. the cold sets the curl and closes the pores in the hair follicle... while hot water opens them up and leaves hair more prone to breaking (which causes more frizz.)

I don't use their shampoo or conditioner (tres seme, because it works WELL and is less expensive)... but I use their Curl Construct Mousse on my ringlets.

I gave a really detailed curly hair thing yesterday on another Q... here's the link to it (obviously some schtuff may not apply). Darn. Can't find it. If I come across I'll post it.

My daughter used to use Garnier Fructis on her curly hair, but we found that the Pantene products are much better. Good luck!
