i noticed that my daughters belly button is popped out she cries and grunts alot

she might have a hernia(?). My son had the same thing when he was an infant. As long as you can push it back in and it doesn't turn purple, it's not a problem. I would let yourdoctor know.

She probably has an umbilical hernia, my son has that, it looks worse when he cries. His doctor has been keeping an eye on it and if it doesn't resolve itself he will require surgery. In our experience, my son cried A LOT when he was a baby, and it didn't have anything to do with his belly button. But I do remember when he cried his belly button really stuck out. Definately bring it up to your doctor.
A hernia can do that. If her belly button was an "innie" before, please take her to your pediatrician.
Did you call the doctor? I have an 'outie' belly button that was attributed to an umbilical hernia when I was a baby. It might not be that at all but just call the doctor right away to make sure. I also see that she is 5 weeks and born at 35 weeks. I do not know the exact circumstances, but I was born a seven month baby myself. Again, call the doctor. That is such a young baby. You need to do something if this is unusual. Good luck.
My son had an umbilical hernia when he was a baby too. But that should not be the reason why the baby is fussy. I think the two things might not be related. I would call the doctor and ask the nurse. I call the doctor's office to ask the nurse questions all the time. It might help to ease your mind.
Our daughter had a umbilical hernia at birth. I was so worried she'd have an "outy" belly button and be teased as she got older.
As she grew (I don't recall how old), it inverted.
My guess is that the grunting and crying is more to do with being a baby (perhaps a little colicky) and not because of the hernia.
Don't be shy about calling the pediatrician's office - they expect new parents to be more in need of advice/answers. They should have provided you a copy of "My Baby's First Year" when you brought her to the office the first time. If not, I'd ask for a copy - it's usually free and was SO helpful during the first few months with our first child.

Both my kids had umbilical hernias. This is where the internal hole connecting the umbilical cord to the baby does not close up after they are born. It's sticking out because her intestines are poking out the hole. Usually it's no problem, the hole closes on it's own and your daughter may have an outtie (like both my kids do). However, my pediatrician said that the hole may begin to close around the intestines and be very painful.
Tell your doctor at the next appointment. If she's only 5 weeks old - you'll probably be there soon. If it starts to feel hard, or turns a different color it's an emergency. Good luck!
The most worrisome thing here is a hernia. Sounds crazy in infants but that is a definite tell tale sign. I would get it checked out by a professional.
How old is your daughter? Can you call and talk to the nurse at your pediatrician's office?
