Looking for reasonably price furniture for my daughters room and possible living room down the road. I like a little more modern style but something that looks nice and will hold up decently well.

What can I do next?

I second IKEA. Some of their items are more durable than others. Some is like cheap cardboard, others solid wood so check them out in the showroom before buying the box if you can.

We bought our daughter's furniture except her bed frame at Haverty's. It still looks great, even with a teen living in the room!!

If you go cheap, you get cheap and you will be replacing it sooner than later. I walked into an IKEA 1 time andwas not impressed with the quality I saw and I've never gone back.

We purchased pieces as she needed it, not all at once. She didn't need the desk, hutch, etc when she was a baby. We just continued adding to her set as needed. She is 17 now.

I don't know what stores you have in IL. Haverty's is a decent store, not cheap but not highest end either. For other furniture in our house, we bought 84x48 dining and kitched tables, custom made from the Amish Store here... BEAUTIFUL pieces, top notch quality.. pricey but worth it. We also went to leather ofa Company and got custom sofas for our formal area. Again, pricey but top quality.

Good luck!

For your living room, I would try Ashley furniture.
For your daughters room, try JCP.com and go into the "outlet" section and you can get kids furniture dirt cheap!
I am not fond of the boy furniture selection, but I think the girls is super cute. I got her a fairly modern set 3 years ago and its holding up great.

The trick is, if you order in online, have them ship it to a store near you and pick it up, otherwise you will pretty much be charged more for shipping then the dang bed costs!

Good luck! I love furniture shopping!

We've had good luck at Room Store and JCPenney for our furniture. We got our living room furniture from JCPenney 7 years ago, and if it wasn't for the dog and kids getting it dirty it would be great. The cushions have held their shape and when we do clean it, it looks wonderful. We also got a bed set from JCPenney and it's 4 years old and looks brand new. We also got a lot from Crate and Barrel, but I don't consider them reasonably priced. We do have a bedroom set from IKEA and the bed held up nicely, but I didn't think the dresser and night tables did.

The main reason we like IKEA for kid's stuff is that they don't treat their furnitiure/fabrics/toys with the toxic brominated fire retardant chemicals. Even if you get the bed someplace else, buy the mattress and bedding from IKEA. Also, we have an IKEA couch (KARLSTAD) that we bought sort of as an interim until we could afford something "nicer". Honestly, after two years it's holding up great and we have no complaints.

If you live near an Ikea GO THERE first. Some of there stuff is really cheap (like the upholstered furniture and particleboard stuff) but they have a lot of really nice, durable and fashionable wood/mostly wood furniture. Yes you have to assemble it but it is SO worth it! The tables, desks, shelves and dressers are especially nice.
