Little Gym and Gymboree are both really good places for kids that age to play. Gymboree has good age appropriate equiptment that kids can climb on play on. My 19 month old daughter loves it. There is one at Parker and the Tollway.

If you haven't heard of meetup.com you should check it out- I don't know if you are interested in meeting other moms or not but most mommy groups have excellent ideas on things to do.

Check around your area for a Kindermusik or Musikgarten class. Lots of musical fun with your child in a group setting. Check your local natatorium for a mom & me swim class also.

I'm taking my 17 month old to My Gym. She gets excited when we pull up. It's off Lebannon and Legacy. They are having an open house next weekend with Elmo.

Hi Y.,
If you want something with a little structure try The Little Gym or Gymboree. The Little Gym offers a free trial class and Gymboree proabably does too. Some other things we do: indoor play area (do a google search to see what comes up in your area), splash pad (usually at a park or outdoor shopping area), mall with indoor play area, Children's Museum at Fair Park, park (when it's not too hot of course), parent/child water exploration classes (try your local parks & rec dept or YMCA) and the pet store.

Your local library may also have a story time program.

So far the only thing I've disliked has to do with how crowded some of thes places get. I am a FT working mom so I end up doing a lot of these things on the weekend and occasionally in the evenings. The exception is The Little Gym. Because it is structured and it costs the classes are not over crowded. Good luck.

My 18 month old loves swim class at Emler. He has been going for over a year now. He doesn't really get to play much with the other kids though so that might not be for you.

You might want to check into MOMS Club. I'm sure there is one in your area. In our chapter we have different play groups, lots of field trips, and fun events all month long.

You might also check into a local gymnastics place, like little gym. Your local library should have story times throughout the week, which can be mentally stimulating and really fun for both of you.

Check out the Allen Early Childhood PTA! There are tons of free and inexpensive things we do together! We run all around Collin County doing fun things. There are tons of opportunities for adults too! :) We are having a birthday party this Friday to celebrate 20 years of educating parents and entertaining and teaching kids 0-5 years old. Check out the website. www.aecpta.com

Good Luck! C.
