We are taking our 2 year old to Sesame Street Live this Friday. I want to take her out to dinner beforehand. Does anyone know of any fun places to dine in Detroit with a toddler? We live in Clawson so anywhere around here would work too. The only places I can think of are Rainforest Cafe and Red Robin. Any other ideas would be great! Thanks Moms!!

Johnny Rockets is a burger place that has the old 60s feel. It's not necessarily toddler-centric, but they do have burgers, fries, and shakes, and the one we used to go to would cater to the young kids pretty well. It's across the street from Comerica park, next to Hockeytown on Woodward (I think). Enjoy!

Johnny Rockets is right next door to the fox. It's like a 50's diner - our boys (5,4 and 2) like it.

Okay sorry I don't have a different place to suggest, but I just wanted to give my 2 cents. Rainforest Cafe, I thought would be a great place to take my 2 year old last summer....well, they sat us next to the gorilla. When the gorilla started grunting and beating its chest, she FREAKED out. We had to leave. We moved to a different seat, had a bathroom break, but after trying for 20 mintues to calm her down, we just had to leave because she would not calm down. So, the moral of the story is, I still think its a good idea, just don't sit near the gorilla...it can be scary to a 2 yr old.
And as far as Johnny Rockets, I really don't think their food is that good and certainly not worth the price. You want a good burger and fries, stick with Red Robin like you suggested yourself.
Have Fun!

My 4 year old LOVES Big Boy.... and Coney Island. We went to Hockeytown after seeing Go Diego Go and my son love it (he was 3 then).

What about Hard Rock Cafe in Detroit, lots to look at and fast paced. I heard Johnny Rockets is not that good otherwise I would suggest that place. Hockeytown cafe? I am so jealous you get to go to sesame street live, we had a lead on tickets two weeks ago and the guy did not come thru like he promised so I missed my chance to get mezzanine tickets for the Friday show. Have a great time!!!
