Hello, My Godson (8 years old) from NYC is visiting me in Tampa mid to end of February. Central Park, FEO Swartz and the Bronx Zoo is his backyard. I am looking into some more of Florida related great activities as our quality time together. All suggestions would be greatly appriciated. Thank you, B..

So What Happened?

Hello Everyone,
Thank you very much for taking the time to write your suggestions. I loved everyone's references, we have done a little bit of everything. I have taken close to 500 pics, so I am working on the album to send to my Godson. It was so much fun creating great memories together...
Best Regards,
B.

Dinosaur World, just off I-4 by Plant City, would be PERFECT for an 8-year-old boy. It looks cheesy from the freeway, but kids love it. It's also a nice way to spend some time outdoors - the exhibits are all in a very natural, very Florida, wooded area. Some of them are a little gory (dinosaurs fighting), but every kid I've taken there loved it.

I am from Boston myself, and I moved down here about 5 years ago. I found that the Lowry Park Zoo is great, even when I have family down from up north we go there. Because we have the normally warm climate down here, there are lots of animals that they don't have at the zoos up north. Also, what abut spending a day at the beach, like Honeymoon Island or take the ferry to Caladesi Island. it may not be warm enough to go in the water, but, sandcastles are fun too!

Malibu Grand Prix is alot of fun. Also MOSI. Tampa also has a lot of really nice parks. Lake Park on N Dale Mabry has a nice trail, big play area, BMX bike track, horses, & rc car racing.

Get the boy outside!!! Busch Gardens (make sure you book the safari tour that allows you to feed a giraffe), Sea World (you can book tours to swim with the whales, not sure about age requirements), Disney World, Islands of Adventure (all boys would love that). Florida has tons to offer those that are willing to get out and play!!!
