Hi! My daughter is turning 5 in a couple months and would like a fairy birthday party. She's a girly girl and I am wondering if anyone has any ideas for an inexpensive party. My house is a little on the small side so I would rather not hold it at our place. We live in the Kirkwood area and I would really love to throw her a traditional party with games but I don't have a lot of help for all of that. Does anyone know of a place that holds kids tea parties or have any other ideas? Thank you so much!!

So What Happened?

I ended up holding the party at Love Park in the Muffin Shelter ( I love the names)! The shelter was down a little path in a clearing with lots of tall trees for plenty of shade. We had a large crew of kids so there was plenty of space to move around. The theme was garden fairys by Cicely Barker. I made headbands with flowers for the fairies (girls) and helmets with tree leaves for the elves (boys). The fairies had to "earn" their wings and the elves "earned" their ears. This started the party off and the children went on a scavenger hunt to accomplish their goal. We,then, decorated wands and each child had their photo taken among brush filled with mesh butterflies. For games, I had a butterfly pinata and they played pin the horn on the unicorn. We had cake and ice cream and the day was done! All in all in was relatively inexpensive. I got most everything at the Dollar Store and by not serving food was able to splurge on the kids gifts like wings and headbands for the girls and magic flashlights for the boys. I also spluged on the cake from Mc Arthurs bakery and it was well worth every penny! Everyone seemed to have a fairy good time, especially my big 5 year old!

There used to be a store in downtown Kirkwood called the Irish Fairy Tree. Not sure if it's still there but she does birthday parties with a fairy theme. The area of the store where she does it is really neat.

Hello,

well my girlfriend is having her daughter's bday party at My Girl in Lake St. Louis, Mo. Now I dont know if they have another location but I do know they do alot and it's only $15 per kid and I think it includes a cake!!!! Yeah!! But for an at home party go hit Deals, and you can get all that princess dress up jewlery stuff for a buck a piece and online at etoys.com you can get the princesses dress up trunk pretty cheap. Last year my daughter only had two or three other girls and they had a ball with all the girly girl stuff!!! But, good luck to ya!!

Growing up, my mom always had the rule that we could only invite as many people as how old we were turning, with that in mind, maybe you could get your babysitter to go along with you to do a picnic or tea party at Forest Park. I also had one once where we painted piggy banks. All you really need is one small craft, maybe a game and then let the kids have time to play if you do it at your home. Just a few random thoughts on it...birthday parties can get expensive fast if you aren't careful.

C., happy bday to your girl!! you might try the local dance studios. I know we have one in St Peters that does "Princess Birthday" party. They do the girls' hair and fingernails and makeup. and they dress up in costumes provided by the school (disney princesses) and have a "ball"... the whole thing is video taped for you. My daughter had a blast when we did that. they handled all the decor and everything. Including cake, I think our total cost was just under $200.

Good luck finding a place!
