Hi i have a friend who is breast feeding but just found out her baby is lactos intolerant I was wondering if there were anyplace she could sell her breast milk as she is still producing loads and thinks its just a waste sitting in the freezer. If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated . thanks!
Have you investigated the possibility of freezing the milk and giving it to a pregnancy center? Don't know if they'll take it but it would be a good idea to try.
we had a similar problem but it was really only cow dairy that was causing the problem. Was eating dairy and the proteins and sugars were being passed through my breastmilk to baby. I went dairy free and problems cleared up. Just a thought.
All she has to do is eliminate dairy from her own diet and keep nursing. My daughter has 3 that were and nurses about 19-21 months. After they are weaned she eats whatever she wants.Mother's milk is the best for her baby. She can also call LeLetche League for further advice.
You probably want to double check this with a doctor, but I'm pretty sure she can still breast feed her baby as long as she cuts dairy out of her diet until she quits breast feeding. That would be hard to do but it might be worth it since it would be temporary. I don't know about selling breast milk.
I know you can donate the milk. I believe she can contact her hospital and get info.

Also, she can still nurse her baby if she changes her diet. She can cut out dairy and find sources of calcium in other foods or take a supplement.
The Mother's Milk Bank. you can drop it off at Plano Presby Hospital (I think) but call ahead because the freezer gets full. I had tons extra and have donated over 1000 oz for premies, while I was breastfeeding my two kids.

I am pretty sure she can not sell it because of possible contaminants that the mother could pass onto another child. You can check on eBay and Craig's List but I am fairly sure they do not allow sale of breastmilk. I think if you donate breastmilk, they test it for antibodies and other things.
But yes my daughter was dairy sensitive so I cut all dairy out of my diet (milk, ice cream, sour cream, cheese, yogurt, everything!) and she did fine after that. Once she turned one we fed her lactaid milk (cow milk without the lactose) and now she drinks regular whole milk. So it is possible if she wants to still breastfeed, she can, but the stored breastmilk will not be good for the baby since it was pumped while she was still drinking and eating dairy products.
