We have lots of the small light brown scorpions and use glue traps as well. Just in case you get stung, make a paste with meat tenderizer and water and put it on the sting. The enzymes in the tenderizer pull the poison out. They are similar to a bee sting, so unless you are allergic, it is just annoying and uncomfortable to be stung.

Holy Schamoley! I would be totally freaking out. Could you call an exterminator and get some advice? Good luck. (I still have shivers!)

We found a baby scorpion in my house a few years ago in a f airly new subdivision. My husband got it out of the house and we never saw another one again. I hope that is the case with you.

We lived in a basement apartment in McKinney, TX when I was growing up and scorpions were a normal thing. We were stung and lived. Once my mother pulled a glass out of the cabinet and poured pineapple juice to drink not realizing there was a scorpion in her glass. Yep, you guessed it. Into her mouth it went, and it stung her, too. She could never drink pineapple juice after that! If you are really freaked out about it, I would suggest calling an exterminator to treat your house. It will also take care of unwanted bugs and spiders.

Remember, too, that they usually come in groups of 3. So, if you see one, be on the look-out because within the next few days, you'll probably see 2 more. They also come up in the sink and tub, so check before using!

Be sure to treat the INSIDE of the house FIRST. If you treat the outside first, the barrier will drive them inside.

Good luck.

I am so sorry!!! I'm fortunate that I've never had them, but a friend who lives in the country does, and she uses those sticky traps too. I've been over there before and seen several on one trap! I know, gross, huh? I would follow up on the other suggestions as well as far as eliminating the food supply, but the traps will help during the interim. Good luck!

Ditto the looking it up online for what environment they like and what might attract them, and also hiring an exterminator. BUT, living in the south, they are around. I'm in Georgia, and we have them too. But only see them once in a while. Generally speaking, the small ones (they really aren't babies, they are just a small type- the big nasty black things you see in movies aren't native to the US) are not much different then a bee sting.

I would get the sticky traps and put them behind all of your furniture against the wall and under furniture that isn't pushed against a wall.
I buy them at Lowes. They are Tomcat household pest glue boards. I fold them to make an open ended box (see back of pckge). I also put one between our doors and storm doors because there are gaps under the storm doors.

I would try DE (diatomaceous earth). It's an all-natural mechanical bug killer; it gets in their exoskeleton and slices them up. Check it out! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diatomaceous_earth
