Hi T.,

Grapes. but you have to eat a lot of them. Other fruits as well. My 20 year old future son-in-law takes a supplement made primarily from grape seed and grape skin extract. (It's manufactured by a registered pharmaceutical company that specializes in natural stuff.) He's gone from Hypertensive to Pre-hypertensive in one month and he's still improving. His doctor gave him 90 days to try to do it naturally and I think he's going to accomplish his goal. If you wants some info on the supplement I can it for you. Let me know.

The good thing is that you won't need to take magic, expensive pills to naturally lower your blood pressure. You can eat food...that you buy in the grocery store! You're right, paying attention to exercise and nutrition are both keys to lowering blood pressure.

Google 'DASH Diet' to find out more. Here is a great place to start:
http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/public/heart/hbp/dash/new...

The good news is that the DASH diet is a balanced nutritional plan that you can adopt for the rest of your life. It is super easy to understand and follow and does not require you to buy supplements, prepackaged foods (which are the worst for those with HBP), or have a restrictive eating plan.

Oh, and it is all FREE!

A few years ago I had issues with HBP (150s-115s) so for four months I modified diet according to DASH and lost 30 pounds. After four months I added in exercise and as a result lost inches and dropped clothing sizes. More importantly, my BP dropped to 105/60-70s.

Foods - bananas, sweet potatoes, kiwis, broccoli, spinach, potatoes, grapes, blueberries, cantaloupe. Look for things with high potassium.

My mom was able to lower her blood pressure by increasing her water intake. She thought she drank a lot, but when she actually measured her intake to make sure she was getting a gallon a day (she'd fill up a gallon jug in the morning and drink from it all day), she realized she hadn't been drinking that much after all, and also that it lowered her bp from the high or slightly high range back to normal.

Using stevia and/or truvia can help lower blood pressure. Mine was high, and as part of my diet, I began using these to substitute sugar in my coffee, tea, and anything else I would sugar. I researched them because I am always suspicious of the new "safe" sugar replacement that's popular every few years. Well, according to what I read, the plant it's drived from does have properties that lower blood pressure and regulate insulin. Mine has gone down, but I have lost weight too.
