FOOD / DRINKS For Bachelorette Party - Cocktail Party

NEED FOOD / DRINK advice for a Bachelorette Party. Details we start at my house 8:00 - 9:30/10 for games and then go to a dance club. So far 11 people have said YES, 2 MAYBE and 4 still need to reply so we could have 17 people?
I am planning on having
Drinks: an alcoholic Sangria Punch, non-alcoholic pink lemonade, coffee, tea, plus a bottle of rum and vodka so people can make a cocktail if they choose.
Food: Cupcakes (chocolate and vanilla "novelty shaped") chips, dip, tortilla chips and a cream cheese and sun-dried/pesto dip, a vegetable plate a cheese and cracker plate and probably some fruit and maybe mini quiches.
For a 1.5 to 2 hour gathering do I need more alcohol, or beverages? What about food? Do I need more? Less? How much of each
thing?
Any other input or suggestions for me?

I wasn't thinking of more protein because of the 8:00 start I figured I gave people enough time to have dinner. But I am now rethinking that. I have made Jello shots before and they were a hit but since we are moving to another location and only at my house for an hour or two I thought we would save those for the bar. In my Evite I encouraged carpooling with a designated driver and added the number for a local taxi. My husband is driving our car with 4 of the ladies. I haven't heard what the plan is for the other ladies. A limo and renting a van is not in the budget. I looked into it months ago and it is pricey, even to split it. Plus half the women waited until the last minute just to hit reply on the Evite, how the heck was I going to collect money from them too - LOL. Now I am concerned about having the Sangria Punch out though (alcohol). Should I just offer A cocktail instead?

Thanks for your time,
T.

To decorate the novelty cupcakes, it works really well to put the frosting in a ziploc and then just barely snip the corner. Hold the bag high and then squirt the frosting over the base of the shape. After all bases are done, put a little extra milk in the rest of the frosting to thin it a bit and then put a little squirt of that at the tip of the cupcake. Depending on the crowd, you can also make some cupcakes chocolate, some vanilla, and some mixed. Frost accordingly. :)

I agree with some other posters that protein is a good option. How about little smokies? They're protein but also thematic.

Semi-HomemadeCocktail Time by Sandra Lee.

I spotted this book at my local library early in the summer. It would be spectacular for your party....food and drink ideas!

I tried the Happy Homemaker drink and Greek Layered Dip with Pita Chips. The drink was okay but the dip was outstanding. Lots of fun drinks in this book.

You shouldn't provide alcohol in excess of more than 1 drink per person for every 2 hrs. To do so would but them at risk for intoxication and you should not be serving alcohol to those who are intoxicated. This is the law for a server in the state of Washington, often not followed, but these ladies still have to go home at the end of the evening/event and how are they going to do that safely under the influence? I wouldn't serve an alcoholic punch or drinks at my home prior to going out. By serving non-alcoholic beverages you will limit your liability. I would make arrangements for a long limo to pick you and your friends up at you home and to take you to the dance club, as you'll probably be drinking there and everyone will be purchasing their own drinks. You can have fun in the limo to and from, and get to and from safely. Make sure that everyone eats well before going out for the evening. Have a great time!!

Sounds great! I wouldn't offer too much alcohol before the club or you may never get there. The party could stay right in your house but then you may need more food or end up calling for pizza. Have a great time.I think you've got it covered. Dont stress too much for a 1-2 hr party.

Rent a chocolate fountain, or buy one, they're cheap these days. Have strawberrys, pineapples, marshmellows, pretzels, graham crackers, Etc. It's the perfect way to start a party with all women. Add your dips, chips, and veggie/cracker plates and you're done.

Madori green liquor and sprite - the most amazing beverage for a party. You can drink them like they're koolaid.

Honestly, people are going to be so busy chatting and making drinks, I think you have enough food. I love the Jello shot idea, thats always a crowd pleaser, and you can never go wrong with chocolate covered strawberries.
Jello Shots
6 ounces Jello (large package)
16 ounces Water (boiling)
6 ounces Water (cold)
10 ounces Vodka
Mix the jello mix with the boiling water until the powder is fully dissolved and add the cold water and alcohol. Pour the cooling mixture into either shot glasses or paper cups.
I like them in paper cups because its easier to due the shot, I think I got mine at Smart and Final. Have fun!!!

Hey I have a hot crab dip recipe you can make ahead and just keep in the fridge to microwave if you start running out of food

1 package cream cheese
1 cup sour cream
1 tbs horseradish ( the creamy kind)
1 tbs worchestershire sauce
3/4 pound lump crab meat.
Mix it all up and bake if for 20 minutes at 350 degrees... it rocks
Serve with crackers

Also wicked simple punch
2 liter of ginger ale
1 container pineapple sherbert
24 ounces orange juice

Mix it all in a punch bowl and leave a bottle of rum on the side so people can mix it in:)

Hi T.,
Sounds like a great party! Your Bride is lucky to have you! I would suggest some BBQ meatballs or something really hearty and easy to eat since people tend to drink a bit at these things. Getting some "real" food in them up front can help avoid trouble down the road. (Trader Joes has great frozen meatballs that you can just throw in a crockpot and dump a jar of sauce over and use toothpicks to serve. Ouila! People love them.)
Have fun!

I agree with the responder about the meatballs. Some kind of good protein to get started. I also agree with the other poster about maybe keeping your portion alcohol free or limited alcohol. While jello shots are fun, they are so easy to over indulge on. If you 'need' alcohol ahead then maybe just a bottle or 2 of wine to keep it simple. I know people who have gotten DUII's with 'just' a drink or 2. Better to save the big partying for the club and make sure everyone has a ride home with a safe driver. Have a great time!
