Follow up to Tooth Extraction

Approx 5 weeks ago I posted about the excruciating pain I was in 1 week after a tooth extraction. Someone advised me to go to another dentist and after 8 days of such sever pain I took her advice. It turned out I did have a dry socket, and a huge hematoma from the difficult extraction (despite the oral surgeon telling me I didnt') Anyway the new dentist put clove paste on, gave me some to take home and it was instant relief. Trust me I would have rather gone through child birth then go through that pain again. I am now 5 weeks in and have an ear ache on that side and the side of my tongue is killing me, so I reach in and feel something sharp coming out of my gum where the extraction was. A sore is now forming on the side of my tongue. SOOOOO!!! I google it and it tells me it could be a part of the root or bone fragment. I am going to call the dentist this morning, but I was wondering if anyone had experienced anything like this? And did they have to open your gum up again to remove whatever it was? I really don't have time for this, so much going on this week with my preschool!! Taking a class and have a final on Thursday, I have a Trik a thon Wednesday, or St. Jude's childrens hospital, a Fathers Day breakfast on Friday, and practice for my Preschool graduation next weeklol!!! This is more of an inconvenience then anything, just hoping I don't have to have it reopened. Some posters I read on the internet said the bone worked it's way out, which I am hoping for. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this and what the outcome was! Thanks,

What can I do next?

Years ago when I had wisdom tooth out, I had a dry socket. The surgery was done in June, then in December, 6 months later, I had a piece of bone come out trough the gum.
It was the worst dental experience I have ever had, the oral surgeon did not let it get numb before he started digging around and I literally 'white knuckled" the chair arms the whole time. An hour later it was numb.

If your ear is hurting, maybe a nerve was inflamed with the injection of "novocaine" or maybe you have an infection. Call the dentist.

The egotistical surgeon was very insensitive to my pain.
So sorry you are having such an experience.

My grandmother had a tooth extracted by her dentist. She felt something protruding from her gum and went back to the dentist. He took an X-ray and said everything was fine. Finally after months had gone by I took her to another dentist who could see and feel what she had been complaining about. I then took her to an oral surgeon who removed the entire root of the tooth. ( It looked like an eye tooth). I was tempted to take it with me to show her incompetent former dentist😊

Feel better soon.

Wow... I just groaned when I read what you are going through. I have no experience with this (thank God!), but just wanted to tell you I hope that you have a good outcome when all this is done.

No help here, but sending hugs~

My understanding is that bone pieces can be normal, since you are having pain though it is worth checking out.

Did they not give you antibiotics? That sounds like your next step if they didn't. But none of this sounds normal for a simple tooth extraction. Call the second doctor back TODAY and get the abx and some pain meds. Tooth pain the THE WORST, but once it's gone you should be able to resume your normal activities. Good luck.
