I forgot to ask...what about strollers. Did you gate check the stroller? I'm not bring a car seat b/c my SIL will have one in the car for us when she picks us up.

What about PIP? Any problems or special packing things I should be aware of?

What can I do next?

Hi there,
You can take your stroller right up to the plane and the flight attendants will take care of it when you board. And they set it up for you when you land, which is nice. I am flying tomorrow with a one year old and 3 year old, and wish I could be someone else for the day!!!
I heard with drinks you can have formula otherwise they will provide water or juice now on the flight for your sippy cup or bottle.
Good luck!!

Yes, gate check the stroller. That way, you can use it in the airport, and I think it reduces the chance of it getting lost in the luggage routing process.

I just flew to california two weekends ago and this was my experience....

In order to limit the time spent waiting in lines I printed out my bording pass online. When I arrived at the airport I checked in my luggage at the curb. So, all I had left was the stroller, my baby sling, a diaper bag ( consisting of diapers, wipes, some factory sealed snacks, and a bottle of milk), along with my purse. My baby was sucking on her bottle during the security line and when it was my turn to go through it, I was asked to dump out my baby's milk!!!!! I was shocked because my daughter was drinking it. It was heartbreaking to have to take it away from her. Immediatly after I dumped it another security employee told me that Milk was okay and the two security employees started arguing over it. Meanwhile my daughter is still out of milk :(. Once I got through the security checkpoint I was able to purchase some more milk at McDonalds. I was then able to keep my baby in her stroller until it was time to board. Just before boarding I put the baby in a sling and checked in the stroller. I actually kept the baby in the sling the entire flight. On the return flight I was told that slings or baby carriers were not allowed.

Good luck!

You will gate check the stroller as the other ladies said. ALSO keep in mind the Airline is not responsible for any damage to your stroller. YUCK !!! They broke mine on my way to my destination. I was not happy and they were not responsible.

I've flown w/my ds numerous times starting around 6 months. Absolutely, bring a stroller if you can. You can load the baby and your carry ons on the stroller and then check it at the gate. If possible, get yourself a smaller travel size stroller but I've seen regular ones all the time at the airport too. If you don't want to bother with it, then I would use a sling. I actually used both when traveling with my son when he was itty bitty. I would wear him while on board. I'd just nurse him on the way up, we'd sleep secure in the sling and then on the way down he'd usually wake and I'd nurse him again.

You will need to take your shoes off and collapse your stroller when you pass through security. I "make a plan" with my husband before we get there--who will hold the baby, who will collapse the stroller, etc. I truly have a wonderful husband, but the first time we flew with our baby, he was so engrossed in conversation with the security guy as he passed through that he failed to notice me, baby, and stroller, all waiting on the other side! :-) Wear shoes that you can slip in and out of without using your hands!

You are required by the airline to gate check your stroller. Check the website for the airline you are flying - they have answers to Frequently Asked Questions and directions regarding flying with an infant. Make sure you take a bottle or a pacifier to give during take off and landing.
