Follow up to Diaper Question

Hi I have the same issue as Amanda A. with the diapers and the advice was great, but I have a follow-up question. My little one is still in Size 2, and I use the BabyDry Pampers at night, because the Swaddlers get very wet and she pees a TON at night, but they just don't seem to fit well at all around the waist - they aren't stretchy or anything and she often leaks out the top of the waistband in front. Are the Cruisers by Pampers as absorbent as the Baby Dry, and do they stay fairly dry inside like the Baby Dry ones do? My little girl is one of those sensitive babies that hates to be in a wet diaper at all; and the Baby Dry ones have kept me from having to change her 3 or 4 times a night. Thanks!

Here's the original question:

From: Amanda A Date: Tue. May. 22, 2007
My daughter will be 11 months old on the 10th and is just about big enough to move out of size 2 Pampers Swaddlers and on to size 3 diapers. I was thinking about going to Costco and trying either their brand or huggies. Any advice on which is better? My daughter has a very small frame so I need something that will "hug" her like the swaddlers did...some diapers are cut very wide. Thanks.

What can I do next?

Well, up until about 2 weeks ago I really loved Pampers Cruisers. My son is a large boy... he is 8 months old and has been in size 5 cruisers for about a month (he is proportionate ;) ) He started developing a little rash, and even with frequent changes it just kept spreading and spreading and covered his entire diaper region. I switched to baby dry (my husband didn't think they were perfumed... but they are!) and it didn't help. We switched to huggies and they have the elastic in the back, and his rash started clearing up after about diaper #5. From the time he was born he was in swaddlers and then in cruisers and that is all we used. I don't know if they change the type of scent they use (because to me they smelled the same) but he never had any kind of rash until he was in size 5. I guess I can cash in my "Gift to Grow" points because I am done with Pampers brand.

It's been a while since my daughter was that young but I don't remember the cruisers a size 2. If that's the case, they would be too wide for her so maybe you can use swaddlers and also a cloth diaper on top of that or change her twice in the middle of the night.

Yes Cruisers are like the next bigger size from the Swadlers. They snug up real nice and my daughter (how hates to be wet too) does not have a problem with these ones. We used these on our oldest and loved them so much we are now using them again on our little one!
~Good Luck !!

H.,

hi! i used the swaddler's for my little guy and they worked great. we then moved up to the cruisers during the day and the baby dry at night. once we moved to size 3, the baby dry diapers have the side elastic which we loved. the cruisers do, too!

hope this helps!

Hi H.,

I had the same problem with my daughter when she was about 10 months old. I used and still use the Pampers Cruisers and I think they are just as absorbent as the Baby-dry. One other thing that you can try would be to pick up some additional absorbent diaper liners. I know that they sell them at Babies R Us, and they really help keep them dry throughout the night.

Good Luck!

Do you buy the box or the packages? The Baby Dry diapers in the box have the stretch in them like the Cruisers. Cheaper and more efficient!

i had that problem where my son was peeing a TON at night too and it didn't matter what kind of diaper it was...he ALWAYS leaked! i started really paying attention to how much he drinks before bed and it has made a huge difference! i made sure he didn't get a sippy immediately before bed and i started filling his bedtime water bottle halfway rather than fully. he hasn't minded at all because he is usually asleep before the bottle is out anyways. hope that helps out a little bit! good luck! : )

My daughter has the same problem - waking up with a wet waistband on her PJs - and honestly, I haven't really found any diaper that keeps that from happening. I just finished a package of the Pampers Cruiser and was very disappointed that they didn't stop the waistline leakage. I've switched back to Huggies to see if there's truly a difference - I'll keep using my cheapy diapers during the day though!

I think pampers swaddlers are the best.
And then Pampers cruisers when the geta little bigger.

Hi- I've had a similar problem with my daughter's diapers- small baby, too big diapers. I found Pampers did not work at all for her. We switched to Huggies and they fit really well. We haven't tried using the Costco brand, but from my experience, their products are usually excellent.

My son began soaking himself EVERY NIGHT at about 13 months. I took a trick printed in one of my many parenting magazines. Put a maxi pad in his diaper. Gives another 3 hours of absorption! Just go to Wal Mart or Target and get the store brand (cheaper) and stick one in the main spot she will be "using" in the diaper first. I finally stopped changing his bed everyday I was SO happy.

Well I use the cruisers and they have a dry liner and stay very dry even when wet. They also have a strechy grip tabs so that they don't leak out the sides or top. I prefer them to most other brands.

My son used to soak his diapers at night... every morning he was wet head to toe, I got Huggies nighttime diapers. They are specially made to be SUPER absorbent during the night.

I personally didn't use pampers (the scented whatever it is in there gave all my kids a rash, and huggies doesn't have that)

The huggies premium, are pretty narrow. My daughter had to use those because she's always been petite, and narrow waisted.

Try Luvs. I am a mom of 2 boys, and have used Pampers and Huggies, and they always leaked. I found the best diapers were Luvs, and the most affordable.
They fit perfectly to both boys. My oldest was very thin, and the other was a chunkier baby. Both did great. I would highly recommend trying them out.

I would not use costco. I like the huggies at costco though they seem to do great with my daughter
