My daughter is 8yrs old and hasn't had a flu shot ever. I was going to get it for her this past flu season. But does anyone know if the kids need to get 2 flu shots for their first time?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for your help! Now I what to expect. It's too late this year for flu shots so I'll take her next year.

Yes, my son had his flu shot for the first time this winter and they gave him 2 about a month apart or so. I think that is standard for infants, but I'm not sure for older children. Could be the same policy though.

My children did. They received the first shot and then they had to come back for a booster. The next year they only needed the 1 shot. I hope that helps.

I am a Pediatric nurse and it is highly recommended for kids. Since she has never had one she would have to get 2 a month apart. If she is over the age of nine she will only get 1 shot. I have gotten my son his flu shot since he was 6 months old. J.

My doctor required that my children get two shots for their first time. They had the first and then we went back about 4 weeks later for a second dose. But, since their first years, we've never had to do that again. =0)
