Please help, I am at my wits end. I have an indoor cat that got out once and of course got fleas. I have used Frontline on him 3 times, we have hardwood floors, but we have sprayed all the rugs with flea killer. I have washed or tossed a lot stuff. The last time I gave him Frontline was last Sunday and he STILL HAS THEM! It is so gross, I am concerned about him but also about my daughter who is six months old and always wants to be on the floor or touch him.
If anyone has any advise, PLEASE HELP. If anyone wants a cat with indestructible fleas, PLEAE LET ME KNOW!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you to everyone for the great advice. We ended up bombing the house last week, while I was at work and baby was at daycare. We took biggie (our cat) to the vet, he was bathed and given an oral medication. The vet suggested we give the cat frontline every two weeks for awhile and also contiune the oral med. He also suggested a re-bomb in a couple of weeks. So far it seems to be much better!!! Thank you :)

I have 5 cats and 4 dogs, and I fight these pests every year. The advice you are getiing is good, but I don't mess with all that, it's too much work. I have had trouble with frontline, I don't like it, it doesn't work. Ask for "Advantage" and the fleas will be gone. I use "Advantage" only about 3 times a year, not monthly like it says, because there is a money issue when you have as many pets as I do. Switch to Advantage and you can keep the cat not the fleas.

We had this isue a few years back. What we did: loaded everyone in the car, including the cats. Set off flea bombs all through the house. Took the cats to the vet and asked for a flea treatment. They kept the cats for a few hours. We went running around doing errands, had lunch, etc. Picked up cats and headed home. No more fleas!!! Good Luck!

Hi M.,
This is going to sound strange...bath your cat in "DAWN" dishwashing soap. I rescued a litter of kittens that were loaded with fleas, I talked to the vet inside the Petsmart in
Southlake and she told me to use Dawn because they were so young I could not dip them. It works! Just becareful to not get it in the eyes.

Good Luck - sometimes it's hard to give a cat a bath!

I don't want to alarm you...but you should be very concerned about the chemicals that you are using in your home around your baby. Please research organic elimination of fleas. I think there is a company out of Plano that does extermination with organic products that won't be harmful to your baby. Maybe someone will know the name of a company. If you are interested in this, maybe you should ask the question again and see if anyone has suggestions. I would also Google harmful effects of insecticide on babies.

I hate responding to things on e-mail because it may come across as being critical....my concern is only for you and your baby and I felt the need to share.

I've had great results from Advantage. It was years ago when I had cats, but the fleas were gone, and I lived in a rural area where there were tons of critters about.

I would love to know the cure for this one. I have 2 cats and have used Advantage on them for 2 months and still have them. They do not go outside and I have had them since July. I don't know where the fleas came from as I have never let them out.

I have had problems with fleas usually once a season but not in the winter, only in the summer and Zodiac usually did me good, but not this time.

HELP TOO!!!

My dog has fleas too and I've been going through the same scenario as you! Someone told me though that now that there has been a freeze, it should be easier to get rid of them. I have done everything but the flea bomb, so I'm going to try that. I will probably also give my dog and cat another dose of frontline at the same time. I've been avoiding it because you have to evacuate the house for several hours and its so inconvenient. If you try the bomb . . . good luck with it. Hopefully we'll put an end to them.

Believe it or not with 6 house cats and 1 that goes outside we have no fleas. The trick it to feed them a little garlic every day. It is simple all you need to do is place a small amount into their food and mix it in.The fleas cannot injest the garlic and can smell it.They will not infest the cat because of the taste.
