Flat Screen Tvs

Can someone help us. We are thinking about purchasing a flat screen tv. The question is weather or not to hang it on the wall, or buy a stand for it. I think those tvs dont look secure on a stand, like someone could blow on it and it'd fall over, yet mounting it on the wall I understand it to be done by a professional. It all seems so complicated to me!! How do you display yours? Who did you get to mount it on the wall?

What can I do next?

Hi,
I guess it depends on where your t.v is going to be and how easy it would be for your child to access. We have a flat screen that was originally on a stand but not set back into a cabinet or anything else adn it became a serious concern for us when our daughter could reach it. We bought the equipment and had it mounted on the wall. Most electricians can help you do this and depending on where you are mounting it and some other factors it should not cost to much (an hour labor or so). We decided that when we mounted ours we would also get rid of all of the boxes (cable and dvd) and put them in the basement and access them with a remote, this cost a little extra but now we don't have to look at the wires or boxes in our living room.
Good luck.

Hi K.,
We have a flat screen and we started off with a stand. This was great until my youngest at the time turned two. My husband bought a mount at Circuit City for about $100. It took him about a half hour to hang it. Not bad at all. If you know someone that can hang it for you I would say it is definitely worth it because they wanted $500 to hang it professionally!! My husband said it was very easy to do and it is a complete rip off to pay $500! Good Luck!!

Go ahead and get it mounted on the wall. you'll be so glad you did. It's so much safer. Plus, it looks cool.
