Hello ladies I am turning to my trusty mamapedia ladies for maybe some information.
Firstw of all, I am super pale like a ghost. I mean I can’t tan or fake bake to save my life. After I have had my daugher I started noticing that I get red and blotchy upper arms at times. Its really embarrassing. People ask me if I am sunburned and ask me if I am ok all the time.

I get red blotchy in the following situations

1.When I am trying on clothes “ Getting hot or frustrated “
2.When I am working out
3.When I get nervous or anxious
4.Anytime basically that my heart rate is elevated

It doesn’t last a long time. Usually just a couple of hours and then the bright redness goes away. My upper arms tend to be a little soft pink since I am pale. I have never really had this problem except the past couple of years. Its starting to really bother me and even more so now that I am going to get married. I am terrifed that I will get nervous at my wedding and I will looked like I have a sun burn from hell.

I do not get any bumps or itchies or anything. Just red. I do not get red anywhere else that I notice currently. I do know that in the winter I get these little tiny ring worm like patches of skin that are in a oval or red shape. Its really only in the cold seaon. Someone suggested that it might be “ KP “

I do not thing the two are related but they might be issues of concern. I want to find something to help this. I am willing to even go see a dermatoligist but I just wanted some input first.

Any ladies have expereince with this? Any advice? Suggestions?

What can I do next?

My son has mild excema - we cannot use any type of soap on him or he also gets the ringworm like patches like you describe. If he gets hot or has been outside in the heat they get worse and in the winter they seem to get worse. It's expensive but we use Cetaphil cleanser on his whole body, hair included, and the tub of Cetaphil moisturizer all over too. It really works. Have you tried switching to a "soapless soap" yet? We were also given a cream from the dr - can't remember the name of it - and we only use it when they get really bad. Check with a dermatologist to see if you're having some type of skin reaction to something. Your body can change after childbirth so no telling what is going on, especially if it has only been a year or two. I know my body didn't seem to get back to "normal" until about 2yrs after giving birth. Good Luck!!

I also have pale (redhead) skin and I used to get red blotchy skin on occasion, but when I discovered a dairy allergy and eliminated it from my diet, the color of my skin stopped being so pink and most of the red and blotchy issues went away as well. I don't know if what you are experiencing is the same, but it might be worth a shot. It might be an allergic reaction that only occurs when you sweat. I would also stop using fabric softeners and use scent-free, dye-free laundry soap. I also would get blotchy in and after a shower due to harsh soaps and switched to a simple pure glycerin soap. I occasionally still get the red arms after using shampoo and/or conditioner, but eliminated the other irritants keeps it to a minimum. Other chemicals that bother my skin are in household cleaners. I try to use "green" cleaners without the harsh chemicals and it's helped a lot too. Good luck!

When you mentioned trying on clothes, it occurred to me
that you might be allergic to some of the chemicals/sizing in new clothes.
But when you said hot or frustrated, I thought that's probably not it.
If it's only your arms, even when exercising, that's unusual, I think.
If you are working out, it seems to me that your face and chest and other parts would also get red, especially if you are raising your heart rate.
I don't know what "KP" is.
Regarding planning for your wedding, you might want to consider yoga or some other meditation method so as to have better control about getting upset or frustrated. There will be enough to take care of without getting "terrified" about the color of your arms.

Have you had a physical check-up lately?

Old thread I know, but have something to add that may be helpful. I would consider that it may be a stress response. When you become stressed...nervous/anxious/frustrated your body responds by sending more blood to vital areas, brain so you can think fast/clear. Muscles so you can react stronger etc... This bloodflow change could be the cause of your redness.
