Hello Everyone! I posted my request a little while back and got a few good ideas. Unfortunately none are going to work for us. As the 'big day' is quickly approaching (Nov. 8th), I have to be honest...I'm Freaking out! It's really hard when you are new to the area and don't even know where a good place to eat is! My husband and I love the outdoors and are pretty 'gung-ho' about embracing the Fall for our daughter's 1st birthday. We recently went hiking in Wissahickon Park and discovered the Green Valley Inn. We had a nice lunch there and actually watched a wedding! The place is a little more rustic than what we are looking for, but we would love something similar! (The Green Valley Inn is booked solid every weekend in November). Perhaps someone knows of a good Fall Location or a good place with Fall (Autumn) Views? Maybe I am being too picky, so a good restaurant(s) suggestion might work too!
HERE IS MY ORIGINAL POST!

Our daughter's first birthday is 2 months away and we have to start planning something soon... Our families are all over the country and our house too small to accommodate them and a First Birthday Party. With travel arrangements having to be made soon to keep flight(s) cost(s) down, we need to find a place PRONTO!!! We are looking for a small room/ private & catered. Perhaps someone had a really nice baby shower and they can recommend a place for us? Banquets hall? Please no Knights of Columbus or VFWs. Thanks

*******Forgot to mention: We live in the Springfield, PA Area*****Doesn't have to be too close to us, but not really far away either. Thanks

What can I do next?

I don't know if you have checked out Linvilla Orchards yet. It is a very fun "fall outdoor" place. There are animals, hayrides, big fenced-in playground area, corn field mazes, pumpkin patch, etc.

I have a few suggestions for you.
As far as outdoor locations, try Linvilla Orchards right outside of Media, PA. It has the "autumn scene" you may like. Also, there is a great indoor gym "Kehler's Gymnasium" near Marple, PA (near the Marple Shopping Center). If money is no option then also look into the Springfield County Club, they rent out their halls for parties and have themes for you to utilize as well. You can also do "Build-a-Bear workshop -- they hosts parties. Good thing is that you still have time and kids' paties arn't that had to throw together.. Good Luck!!

BTW -- I have an event planning buisiness so if you ever need any referrals, please let me know. Also, keep in mind that I create custom-designed invitations. Again, Good luck!

Hi,
We are also new to the area but have you tried looking at the local orchards and doing a picnic type thing?
There is Linvilla Orchards
137 West Knowlton Road
Media , PA 19063
610-876--8796
I don't know if you are going to have other kids there but there is a corn maze, play land, hay rides, petting zoo, crafts, and lots of other activities not to mention the picnic grove. There would be the Pumpkin Harvest Festival going on at that time so it may be busier then you were looking for but definately check it out, even if its just for pumpkin picking!
I also heard that Skippack Village is supposed to be very nice. Or what about Valley Forge Park?

Good Luck!

Hello! I live in the Springfield area also and I have been to the Springfield Inn for a bridal shower and a birthday party. They did a wonderful job. They have a room upstairs that they use for parties, showers, etc. Check it out, their food is great!....B.

what about the edgemont country club?? It is right by ridley creek state park. Also RCSP has a beautiful mansion to rent for $175 per day, you must bring your own everything though.

Good luck!

does Longwood Gradens do catering? They have a large waterfall and would probably be in their Fall Harvest mode

well theres a number of different fire halls you could do, several relatives of mine had their baby showers at MEPRI hall in Mt. Ephraim, and i had my HS grad party there, they have 2 different rooms, two different sizes so you can see which one fits best for you.

theres also a number of parks you could do... i know Audubon Lake, which might be called Haddonfield lake now, im not sure... i know they have a giant lake, picnic benches, a playground for the kids, and theres SEVERAL hotels/motels on that block.

maybe even the shore? obviously no one will be going on the beach, but AC has the boards and casinos and tons of places to stay with banquet halls.

i went to one at the HOJO on the boardwalk a few months ago, it was nice.

Or maybe even Adelphias in Deptford... theyre waaaay nice. ive never heard anything bad about them.

not sure where exactly your from or how far your willing to travel, but i hope that helps.
