Hi guys,
We've been in our new house for less than three months and now fire ants are invading. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to rid my house of them?? They are coming in from the under the carpet beneath the baseboards in the bedrooms/closets/bathroom. We have an exterminator (who I'm firing today), if you could recommend a service in the NFW/Keller area that would be great. OR if you have any do-it-yourself methods that would be awesome. I'm VERY allergic to them and have a terrible time when stung. Any suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated!!!

What can I do next?

I don't know if this really works but I read recently that if you take a shovel and put a scoop of the dirt from one pile onto another and then take some from the second pile and put it onto the first that they all disappear??? Hope this works for you - how simple if it really works!! I'd love to know if it does!

Last year we had the same problem. We used Terminex and had them out about every third day. They found a bed in the wall that devides the garage from the house and also an exterior wall the has a fire place in it. The main bed was behind the fireplace where the ants had access to it from the weep holes on the house. Check the entire perimeter of your house for several beds and have them stuff all weep holes with copper mesh wiring. Then EVERY year or in our case twice a year spread that "once a year" fire ant killer on your lawn. And them Voila! you are free to move about your house and lawn with little or no fear.

Lots of luck,
K.

Hey T.,

Do you have house pets? When we first moved here, we had a fire ant invasion! They were after the meaty smelling dog treats/bones. Once I figured out what they were after, I didn't have further problems. I feed my dogs outside only, now.

Of course, I also now have Terminix, but they DO NOT get rid of my fire ants in my yard! (Time to get a new pest control company for me, too.) My husband is also very allergic, so I feel your pain!

Good luck!
Sherri

Hi T.,
We use Robbie at Alamo Pest Control. He comes out once a year to spray all around the house. I'm sure he can take care of your fire ants. His office number is ###-###-####, his cell is ###-###-####. Good luck!- S. M
