I have a son who just became 4 yrs old this month, and he started preschool this fall.
My son is very fun-loving, loud, friendly, bright(especially, academic side, he is so into numbers and letters) and having happy face always, but he is very quiet, too shy , not spoken to anybody. I sent him preschool for socializing, because around him, he has no close boy friends to play with. But his teacher says my son prefer playing alone, not interested in anythig except numbers and letters. He likes writing letters, words, numbers in the papers at school. In his class, my son is the only boy, the others are all little 3yrs girls.I think this setting is one of the reasons of playing alone, so I am considering finding another school for him. I want your good advices.

What can I do next?

Perry Park Preschool in Groveland is great! My son became a bit of a social butterfly after going there. The teachers are amaxing and truly know how to deal with children's needs.

Hi M.,
Have you considered having him tested for Asbergers or any other developmental disabilities to rule these out?
Good luck,
R.

If you are in the Haverhill, MA area - I have just the place for you! You should try Merrimack Child Care - near the Rock's Village bridge that goes to West Newbury - the quaint "little red school house". My daughter was EXTREMELY shy - they were incredible with her! They gently encouraged her to make friendships. They would suggest to me possible kids to have for playdates. They would steer her toward someone compatible in the playground. They gently worked with her at her own pace, but was as concerned about it as I was. They will care about your child and try to find the approach that works for him. They have a great playground, and they are accredited. They used to have a waiting list, but in this economy I think they have openings. Call them. ###-###-####
