So okay my Hubby and I like to read things together. Some things we have read are Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Harry Potter, Eragon series, Dark Tower Series, Dune, and most recently The Hunger Games series. Just hoping for some more suggestions. Doesn't matter what genre really but has to have enough excitement for dh to keep reading. He says life is too short to read dull books (he's right :). Suggestions?
THANKS!

Try the Percy Jackson series. I love these books and the spin off series The Heroes of Olympus series (only the first 2 books are out of this one so far) My ex husband actually read and enjoyed the first Percy Jackson book (and he is not one to read much of anything).

My husband and I are both reading the Songs of Fire and Ice series by George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones). We also both enjoyed Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan (it's young adult, greek mythology type). You could both also read The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo Series. I read the first one but seems like men could enjoy that too.

This would take your reading in a totally different direction, but John Grisham's legal suspense novels are really good. Page turners and they'd appeal to both men and women.

My husband liked "sex Lives of Cannibals" which has nothing to do with sex or cannibals - lol - but is the story of a couple that goes to live on an island by Fiji and what their lives are like while they are there - it was a fun little read and easy to get through.

Otherwise my hubby only wants to read depressing 'classics' by Steinbeck - ugh - no thanks.

I am NOT normally a reader of fiction, but I am totally obsessed with the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series by George RR Martin. I am on book 5 of the set (Books 6 & 7 haven't yet been released).

If you want to see if it's for you, there are some excerpts available that you can download for free. The first book is "A Game of Thrones."

I describe it as, "Lord of the Rings" meets "The Tudors."

My husband and I both like the Lee Childs books - the Jack Reacher series. The hero is an ex-army guy who pretty much goes around being a badass and saving the world. The books are page-turners and are very exciting.

My husband and I have read the Harry Bosch detective stories by Michael Connelly. I don't know if they're action packed enough for your taste, but they are really good. We've also enjoyed reading some Robert Crais books and also the Vince Flynn books featuring Mitch Rapp.
I got him the Millenium trilogy (Girl with the Dragon tattoo, etc.) and we both enjoyed reading those and talking about them.
If you like science fiction, you might want to check out some Star Wars series. I don't read them, but my husband does. They go waaay beyond the movies.
Enjoy!!

My boss (a guy) reads a lot of fiction and often recommends books to me. He's a fan of John Grisham, the "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" series, and even Jodi Picoult's novels.

My father and I trade books. We don't always agree on styles but we have traded the following authors over the years with varying success: Dick Francis, Robert B. Parker, John Grisham, John D. MacDonald, Wilbur Smith, Tom Clancy, Sue Grafton, Edward Rutherfurd, Stephen King, Ken Follett, Robert Crais, Nelson Demille, Kinky Friedman, Rick Riordan, Patricia Cornwell, David Baldacci, Iris Johansen, CJ Box, Elmore Leonard, and Thomas Harris. When he's in country, we hit the used bookstores. We each pick a few and then swap when done. It keep things interesting and gets us both reading things we wouldn't pick normally. Happy reading.

I love that you read together, we do to. We used to also read the books our daughter read all together and listen to books on CD in the car. So many good memories.

One of our favorite is "The Memory of running" by Ron McLarty.. It s not about running..

Last year "State of Wonder" by Ann Pachett was one of the ones we listened in the car.

Also we are into Stephen King and so "The Dome".. was really amazing.

Given the titles you already mentioned... you might really like Pat Rothfuss's fantasy series that starts with Name of the Wind. The second title which came out last year is Wise Man's Fear. It's received rave reviews. You can read a review at: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/186074.The_Name_of_the...
