I found a product called Releev. It works great! You use it 3-4x on the day you first notice symptoms and that is all.

Keep sun screen on your lips. Sun exposure brings them out.

I have had fever blisters for as long as I can rememeber. I have tried everything. Creams only work for a little while because your body becomes immune from what I am told and that seemed to be the case with me. I have been taking a vitiman L-Lysine for a while now and have not had a fever blister. My dad swears by this stuff because he is like me. My doctor had me on Valtrax for onset that seemed to work for a couple of years but I guess my body got immune to that as well. When I first started taking it it would make the blister go away. The last few times that I took the Valtrex that blister would go away but the next day I would start 2 more.
The L-Lysine says it is especially for healthy skin and lips.
Hope this helps

Get a prescription for Valtrex. It's a pill prescribed for people with genital herpes, but it works for oral herpes and it's also prescribed for cases of shingles since they're all in the same family. I was getting them terribly in my 20s, so my doctor told me to take Valtrex daily for a long time. I wound up taking it for an entire year, and never had another outbreak. That was about 15 years ago, and I only get one about every two years -sometimes once a year.

YES! YES! L-Lysine is the amino acid that is depleted with a fever blister so adding back into your system will heal it fairly quickly. You can even take it daily to prevent one. Also, melaleuca alternafolia oil (high grade tea tree oil) will dry one up quickly. It absorbs deep into the tissue and heals from the inside out. It is antibacterial, antifungal, an antiseptic and non caustic.

I used to get them often in my busy stressful life and would hide from embarrassment until I found the melaleuca oil....then someone told me about the L-Lysine. If I get one now or even feel one coming up I can prevent it from lasting more than a couple of days and it usually stays so small no one knows it's there.

Hope this helps!

Go get some abreva (it's stupid expensive but WORTH it) apply it way more than the instructions say and ask your dr for a RX for valtrex and take it when it's coming on. Seriously the only thing that works, good luck those things are horrible!

valtrex def works good, but you gotta have a script, but once you have a script you're good b/c you only need to take it for a couple days.
tea trea oil, much cheaper & no script & can get it at walmart, works very quick for me. the taste is disgusting, yup, but worth it to me. i put it on as soon as i realize it's a fever blister & not a pimple, and that sucker never reaches full size or even "blisters", so to speak. healing time is still approx 7-10 days for the full come & go & ready to wear lipstick again, but it never gets nasty looking or noticeable. worth a try!
other OTC would be abreva (sp). expensive, but very effective too. good luck, i hate those things & i always get 'em when i'm stressed, so it's like adding insult to injury!

If you take one tablet of L-Lysine daily, you won't get them. It's an amino acid.....

I just found this on youtube: At night clean it with peroxicide, dry it off and then using a Q-tip apply clear gel deodorant on it. I'm doing it right now for the first time so I can't yet tell you how it works. I'm just so sick of these things. Been dealing with them FOREVER!!! I'm willing to try any new remedies. Plus, it's cheaper than the prescriptions.

when i feel one starting to form i take lysine. it is an amino acid supplement that is for skin and lips. it doesn't make it go away, but it certainly shortens its cycle. if you catch it right at hte beginning before hte blister forms, you can actually avoid getting one. good luck!

Acyclovir (generic for Valtrex). The minute you start to feel a cold sore coming on, start taking it, and most of the time the cold sore will never actually appear. In the off chance that you don't start taking it until the cold sore has appeared, it will still cut the healing time in half and it won't get nearly as bad. It is one of the prescriptions you can get for $4 at Walmart or Target, and your dentist or doctor can prescribe it.
