Fever - Apopka,FL

Okay, I thought this was nuts when I heard it too...but there is apparently some disorder that's called sporadic fever disorder or something (that's probably not it, but if you google something of that nature, it should come up). A friend of mine's daughter has it and basically she gets a fever about every 3 weeks. My friend started charting it on a calendar and just tried to do some online research and she found it...it seems that is what the doctor thinks it could be too. Also her husband is a pediatrician and he couldn't find anything else wrong with her either.

I don't know much about it, but it seems fairly harmless in terms of disorders. I would see if you can find out about it and ask your doctor. If your ped. can't find anything else, maybe that's it!?!

I can understand your fears and worries and your stress. I'm sure your doctor will do everything in his power to figure out the problem or refer you to a specialist if something seems to be in a specialized field. Does he stay well hydrated? Dehydration can cause fever. How many weeks has this been going on?

First of all....how are you defining "fever"?
What time of day are you taking it?

I'm only asking because kids temps go up towards evening AND I know a mom who literally drug her kid to every specialist in California because her son had a 99 degree temp. She considered it a low grade fever and no mater how many tests showed nothing wrong, she kept him home from school and believed the doctors were failing to diagnose him.
It's enough to make a person crazy and they never did find anything wrong with her son.
Fevers can be a sign of infection, but they can also be a sign of the body just doing it's thing. I always run hot. My normal temperature is always above 98.6. That's just normal for me.

I would chart the temps and the times you're taking it. Also keep track of what your child has eaten prior to taking the temp and if he's been active and running around.

I know it's stressful, but the good news is they didn't find anything wrong and if his fever isn't accompanied by any other symptoms, it might not be anything really serious.

look at wrongdiagnosis.com - type in that symptom. (is it low grade or high grade?)Then lookup every disease and condition related to it. Narrow it down by his symptoms.
I found the reason to my daughters illness of 6 years by doing this.

If he is around children then he is being exposed to constant germs. The best thing is for him to develop fever and burn off whatever is coming. It's called having an immune system.

Of course it is something- how much of a fever?
If you answer I can give you some rules of thumb.
