I only have 2 more weeks until I'm due, but as of yesterday, my baby has been moving a lot less..I've been doing my kick counts and it's been taking him longer to get kicks in..Is it normal for the babies to slow their movement closer to delivery? Lack of space maybe? Or is this something I should call my doctor for?

Yes, it's most likely because of lack of space in there at this point. But, make sure you're drinking PLENTY of clear liquids (water, Red Raspberry Leaf tea, etc), resting enough on your left side with a pillow between your legs, and truly relaxing/meditating since stress could also be playing a role.
Of course you should call your care provider if you're unsure at all. That's what they should be there for, to ease your worries and make sure everything is fine and healthy with both of you! It doesn't need to be a major discussion or interruption of his day, just a quick call just to make sure your concerns are taken care of.

Better to see your doctor. My baby also moved less hrough out my pregnency, but she was fine, now she is a very healthy baby. I was so worried when other moms telling that their babies moved and kicked hard most of the time. But don't worry, all babies are not the same.

My daughter did the same thing starting about two weeks before she was born. Apparently she was out of space! I would call the doctor to double check and give yourself some peace of mind, but this is normally not an issue. Babies usually move less when you get close to delivery. Good luck with the new baby!

C. - I see all the recommendations for you to call your doc (which I definitely think you should do), but just wanted to add that they should have you go in for fetal monitoring. They'll hook you up to the machine that will monitor baby's heartbeat and fetal activity, and may do an ultrasound to get more data. This happened to me, too, and when I went to the hospital for monitoring they found that I was having contractions and that my amniotic fluid was really low - and all the nurses and doctors validated my decision to go in based on lower kick activity. It IS a serious thing, so definitely err on the side of caution by not only calling your doc but insisting on the fetal monitoring.

Good luck!

Kick counts are vital and the baby should still be moving regularly. My little girl was stillborn at 36 weeks and I thought the same thing. I don't mean to scare you but you can never be to careful. Go in and be monitored to make sure baby is not under stress. Congratulations!

I have an 8 week old and had the same question as u during the end of my pregnancy. Yes, that is normal for the movement to slow down due to space. As long as you still feel him moving during your kick counts than I wouldn't worry about it. But make sure you do your kick counts every day as my doctor always told me if I was concerned about the baby not moving then I should go to the hospital to be monitored...he kept telling me this during my last few weeks, so I really payed close attention to the movement.

Drink a cold beverage and lay down right afterwards, just see if that changes anything.

Call your doctor! While it can very likely be normal due to not having enough space, it can also be a sign of low fluids. I would call tonight or tomorrow morning. I always say it's better to be safe.

see your dr. Your baby should be moving more because there is less room.

yah, from what I understand, its because baby is taking up all the room in there!
BUT... you can also call your Doctor, and let him/her know... just in case.

All the best,
Susan

You should call your doctor immediately and demand an ultrasound and/or fetal stress test. It can all be just fine, but it also might not be. Best to have it checked. Any change in movement is a reason for concern.

Good luck and best wishes to you!
