My mom used to feel like that everyday at the end of the day. Her doc thought fibromyalgia. It doesn't happen to her any more though, I think it was the wrong diagnosis. She ended up having a sleep/brain wave disorder instead where her brain was not "resting" at night so her body did not relax and her muscles were literally being exhausted. I would definitely get a physical from you doctor.

When that happened to me last year I found out I had the flu. I don't know if it's something that would come and go though.

Hi S.,

I don't know if you have soreness in different areas of your body or not, but I have fibromyalgia and I too have the same symptoms that are sporadic. Sometimes I feel very fatigued and think if I don't lie down, I'll fall down. In the mornings I feel like a train hit me (an exeration but you get my drift). I see a rheumatologist and take certain medications to help with all of this. Don't know if this is what you are describing but it's worth seeing a Dr. to check yourself out. I hope this helps you.

My first thought was thyroid. If you do go on a prescription, make sure it is Armour, which is natural & not synthetic. Most mainstream doctors don't do the right thyroid testing to catch it. Dr Brownstein is the best for treating thyroid issues with correct testing - http://www.drbrownstein.com/ I ordered his book/dvd combo & learned a lot! Natural health is my thing, so email me if you have any questions. If you are in the STL area, call Cindy Willbrand at Webster Family Physicians at ###-###-####. She is awesome!

Hi S.,

Well, taking care of a one-year-old can wear you out, I know, but I agree with the other moms that you should see your doctor. I don't know if you feel it could be heart-disease related, but make sure you get your cholesterol and blood pressure checked. Please make time to take care of yourself and make that appointment. It is so hard for us women to actually make the time for ourselves, but we're so much better off if we commit to doing it. Good luck!

I was not going to respond to this post, but decided that I have to. There is no way that any of us can tell you why you feel the way you do. We can only tell you why we may feel that way. I think that it is time for you to see a doctor and let them test you. I hesitate for several reasons. When a woman describes what you are describing, some doctors have a tendancy to disregard it. Sometimes in the beginning a test can come back negative, leading them to think it is all in our head.

I will tell you my story. I began feeling very tired, and I had some pain in one of my fingers. That lasted for about 4 months. I began having pain all over my body and I would wake up in the morning and tell my husband I felt like someone had beaten me with a baseball bat. I went to a doctor and had all of the tests run. Everything came back negative. For a solid year, I was tested for this and that, nothing. The pains got worse and the exhaustion continued.

I was told that they could find nothing wrong with me and it was probably just stress. I was offered all kinds of drugs to make me feel better, which I turned down. i knew it was not stress. My doctor finally told me that if I wanted to see a rhuematologist, that would the next step. It took me 3 months to get in to see one, they are very busy. Within the first visit, i was diagnosed with RA, an autoimmune disease. My immunse system was, and still is, attacking my body which causes the pain.

I dont tell you this to scare, that is why I was not going to respond. I tell you this because you have to take charge of your own body and health care. If you decide to go see a doctor, remember you know your body better than anyone. You know if something is really wrong or not. Remember to be your own best advocate. With all of my best!

You probably need to make an appointment with your doctor for a full physical. Most insurances pay for one a year. You may be surprised by what they find or not find. Good luck and God Bless.

S.,

I was actually looking in the health section to see if anyone else on here had experienced the pain i've been feeling for months now. As soon as I saw the title of your post I opened it.

I've been to the ER 3x over the last few weeks b/c the pain I feel in my muscles is so bad. They originally thought it was a rare but serious side effect of my medication. Then the second time I was told that I tested positive on a test that detects blood clots, yet they sent me home w/ no further testing. The third time I was told everything came back negative and it was probably just a really bad virus.

I am awake right now at almost midnight b/c I can't lay down and not be in pain. I can't even sit or bend my extremities without feeling pain most of the time.

I am making an appt tomorrow b/c I can't live like this anymore. At the ER I was told that it could be fibromyalgia but that takes at least a year to diagnose. I was told by someone else that there is actually a test they can do to diagnose it...who know.

I hope you went to the doctors and got some answers. Feel better.

Hi S.,
Sorry to hear you're not feeling up to par. Definately see your doc. I used to work for a rheumatologist and saw a lot of the symptoms you wrote about. Sometimes it was something serious, most of the time, it was something that could be helped with changes in diet/exercise. Things you'll want them to check out...thyroid disorder, epstein barr (mono/chronic fatigue), autoimmune disorders such as lupus, connective tissue disease, RA, etc., fibromyalgia (does have some markers, though it still tends to be a diagnosis of exclusion...if a doc tells you it doesn't exist...FIND ANOTHER DOC!), anemia, B12 deficiency, Vitamin D deficiency (Be sure to check for Vit. D 25-OH as it is the best lab test for this). No matter what it is...be sure to keep exercising! Gentle exercise, including daily walks, gentle weights, stretching, yoga, etc. is essential. It may seem counterintuitive, but it is the best thing you can do!

Let us know what your doc/provider says.
Wishing you good health!

Sounds like you might want to talk to your family doc about fibromyalgia. There are a couple of things that could be going on but if it is a repeated occurrence don't ignore it.
