Feeling Huge Already

I am only 7 1/2 weeks into my 2nd pregnancy and I woke up this morning feeling absolutely bloated in the abdomen. I tried to wear my regular pants and they still fit just fine in the legs and butt and I got them buttoned and they were ok as long as I didn't sit down ( I have a total commute of 2- 2 1/2 hours and 4 1/2 hours straight of sitting in a classroom). So, to keep with my outfit that I was already wearing I changed into a pair of my maternity and was all better. I've heard that you show quicker with the 2nd, but I didn't show until like 20-24 weeks with the first. Is it really possible to start poking out this early?

What can I do next?

Absolutely!!! It was almost immediate that I started showing right after I found out I was pregnant on my second one! If you are feeling a little bloated cut back on the soda's and drink water with lemon. The lemon helps get rid of that extra retaining water:) Good luck and don't fret!!

I couldn't fit into some of my regular clothes at 6 weeks with my first! I can't imagine what it'll be like the second time around, though hopefully we'll find out soon. My good friend & I joke that it'll be obvious immediately after conception. ;o)

Congrats on the baby! Best wishes for a happy & healthy pg & baby!

YES absolutely! with my first i didn't need to wear maternity pants until probably 15-20 wks along. with my 2nd, i had to wear maternity pants at about 6-7 wks along! the reason is that your skin in your abdomen, and your muscles, are already stretched out from the first pregnancy. i thought for sure i had to be having twins b/c i was showing so fast, but nope! just one baby, and almost a whole pound smaller than my first LOL

yes, don't worry....it happened to me the same way. I really didn't show at all with the first until I was almost 7 months! But I was out of my clothes with the second in the very first month. Don't worry, you won't get HUGE! I actually was 10 pounds lighter for my second because I was so crazy active with my 2 in a half year old...we were always out and about...Keep active after you get over the first trimester blah's and you will be fine! I promise!

Yes, it is definitely possible - more than that, it seems to be the norm! I feel the same way (I'm at 14 weeks). My ob said last time, with a straight face, that I am "pre-stretched." :) Ah, well! These babies and the things they do to our bodies! They're worth it, though.

I am having the same problem!!!! It is because of a hormone..... I think it is called relaxitocin, or something like that. If you haven't been working on your stomach muscles (I know I haven't) when that hormone kicks in it makes your muscles like jello. :( I know how you feel, it sucks, after this baby I will do crunches EVERYDAY!

Yes, sometimes it will be the fluid intake but with a baby you never know. Just take care of yourself and when you see the Dr. ask about it. In the mean time do not worry. What a special time in your life.

Totally normal. Every pregnancy is a totally different experiance.
With my 1st I did not show untill 25 weeks(ish). I suffered from Hyperemesis Gravidarum and figured it was becasue of all the weight loss etc.
WRONG! 2nd and 3rd pregnancies, still had the H/G something awful, but I showed alot quicker. 10 and 12 weeks.

With my second I started to show at about 8 weeks or so, literally over dinner. We went to an Italian restaurant and I was not showing when we sat down, and when I got up I looked pregnant. Not just belly full of spaghetti, but totally pregnant! LOL

I know the feeling. I am also in my 2nd pregnancy and was surprised by how quickly I couldn't fit in my pants (although this happened to me pretty quickly in the first pregnancy too). For me though I think a lot of the bloating was more to do with my digestive system adapting to being pregnant in my first trimester. I'm 14 weeks now and while I am definitely not any smaller I do feel a lot less bloated and the slight baby bump is more reasonably located in the lower portion of my belly. Good luck with your pregnancy!

I didn't start showing with my first until I was 6 months pregnant. By the time people figured out I was pregnant, I was ready to have the baby. With my second, I started showing at 2 months. Big difference.

I know how you feel! My first pregnancy seemed to take forever before I was wearing maternity clothes, and this second go around for me I was in them at 3 months. I am certainly bigger this time, but I am completely on track with my weight gain (14 lbs at 22 weeks). I have stopped stressing out about it, watch my diet (making sure I am eating normal amounts)and just enjoying the joy of being pregnant. My first pregnancy I was wearing mainly smalls, but I am wearing more mediums and an occasional large top here and there (also seem bigger on top these days). All of my friends say this is very normal for the second pregnancy.

Best of luck to you! Enjoy it.

Well I was that way with my first. I just started getting thicker in the middle pretty fast. My mother in law got me this black stretchy maternity belt. It is not a tummy support or anything, it is simply to wear over your button and zipper so you can leave them open and then just pull your shirt down over it. The brand is mimi maternity. It was really comfortable and I enjoyed getting to wear my pants a little longer. Hope that helps and congratulations!

Congratulations!
Every body, and every pregnancy is different.
I didn't have to wear maternity clothes until 32 weeks with my first ( I delivered at 36 wks) and hardly anyone knew I was pregnant (work issues kept me from telling my co-workers). But with my second I was in maternity clothes by the time I hit 5 weeks. I had no sooner found out I was pregnant and was then to big for my regular clothes.
Maybe it is your body telling you it will be a girl this time...who knows.
Enjoy this time, you are pregnant for such a small time in your life, cherish every moment!

yep, it happens much faster the second time. you may have just been bloated, but honestly, it does happen faster.

The first time I was pregnant, I was very very thin and in shape (Pilates daily), so I noticed some of my "skinnier" pants didn't fit even before I realized I was pg, and that was about the same time as you. I couldn't wear maternity pants until about 6 months, but yet, that trim waistline disappeared right away.

Of course, I'm on pg # 3, and I'm HUGE at 6 months this time! It all happens much quicker because your body already knows what to do, and the muscles have been stretched that way, so they stretch again much more easily.

You're not making it up! I was the same way... if it makes you feel any better, the weight I gained with the second came off much easier and much faster with the second. Just enjoy it if you can, it will be over before you know what happened!

Sorry, but yes! I was the same way and it's been almost 10 years since I had my second baby:) If your usual pants fit fine, you can go to Motherhood maternity or any other maternity place and purchase a belly band. It liiks like a tube top, but it allows you to wear all your usual clothing without having to button up. To be honest, the belly band along with the usual pants are even more comfy than maternity clothing cause with the maternity clothes, you still have to button up. At least to me, I feel like I have room to move around with the belly band.

I want to say it was around $15. I may be wrong, its been a while since I bought it. Plus, it helps with the cost of buying more clothes.

Good luck!

oh yes, it is possible. When I was 8 weeks along with my second, people (that didn't know me)were asking me when I was due. I couldn't believe I was showing so early. I didn't show until 7 months with my first. It is just because your muscles are already stretched so nature just takes its course. You should try the belt extenders from Motherhood Maternity. They button into the button of your regular pants and give extra room.It allowed me to wear my same pants and jeans until my hips started getting wider.

Hi T., Its 100% possible. With my pregnancy I started showing really early. My pants didn't button after 8 weeks & I was visably pregnant (to those who know me) by 10 weeks. I was in shock because I thought it was all in my head or that I was already "eating for 2" as soon as I found out I was pregnant. :) We were trying to wait until I was 12 weeks to make the big announcement, but when we went to my husband's family Hanukkah party everyone could tell. I was only 10 weeks at that point. We went to see my family in Pennsylvania for Christmas at 11 wks & when we got home I couldn't fit in any of my clothes! I gained 12 lbs in my 1st trimester. I just figured my body was doing what it needed to do. I am only 5'1" & weighed 108 when I got pregnant. I think if you are small to begin with, it can show up a lot quicker too. But I've always heard you show earlier with 2nd pregnancies. Congratulations!! Best wishes for a happy, healthy pregnancy & baby! ~ A.

Hi T..
I'm in exactly the same situation as you. I'm seven weeks pregnant with my second, and I'm showing as much as I was at six months last time. I know it seems extreme, but I just wanted you to know that you're not the only one out there with this going on. I was convinced that I was either further along than I thought, or that I was having twins until my Mum talked to me and told me to calm down lol.

i just gave birth to my second child and i started showing at about 2 mos. i thought i was growing this enormous baby inside me. he ended up being 8 lbs 6 oz. I don't know what your body was like pre-preg. but I think if you're thinner you def. show quicker w/the 2nd. Blessings and congratulations!

I don't remember when I started showing with my first...but with my second one I gave in and started wearing maternity clothes around 8 weeks. I waited until 12 weeks before I wore anything that was too obvious...for work reasons...but I couldn't wait on the pants. (I am having a boy this time...unlike the previous poster.) I am now on week 23...and I feel HUGE! Some of my friends tease when other people ask how far along I am...and they tell the other person I am having triplets because I am so big! :P Don't worry about it...enjoy this time!
