I can't speak to the acid reflux but my husband was diagnosed with fatty liver (technically he has NASH, which is non-alcoholic liver damage) several years ago. The only cure is major changes in your lifestyle to get you back in good health. This means overhauling your diet and exercising. So far he really hasn't done much about it, which is too bad because clearly his body is telling him it can't sustain the way he treats it.

If I were you, I would seek out someone in natural medicine who can help you with nutrition and perhaps some supplements to help you get back to good health. In my area, many chiropractors are well versed in nutrition and can design a program that treats your whole body.

My father did not have fatty liver, but he was on meds for high blood pressure and heartburn. Eventually his heartburn was so unbearable it was the straw that broke the camels back and caused him to actually make the lifestyle changes he needed to. He didn't do it all at once but the first thing he did was to nearly eliminate refined sugar. He also had to give up coffee. Even decaf contributed to the heartburn problem. He wasn't a nazi about it, still had a bit here or there, but the pastries , the sugary beverages, the desserts.... he eliminated out of daily life. It did not take long at all for the heartburn to go away just with eliminating sugar. Incidentaly he began to drop weight with little effort once the sugar was gone and that catapulted him and motivated him into many other healthy changes like exercise and a mostly (but not strictly), plant based diet. Soon he simply took himself off blood pressure meds and felt wonderful. He lost 50 lbs. During this time him and my mother did a program called CHIP (Corinary Health Improvement Project), which you can find on-line. This further motivated their lifestyle changes.
From what I understand there are no medications for fatty liver only lifestyle changes. But so many people are overwhelmed and defeated when they come to this nebulous "lifestyle change" cross roads. So I encourage you to find a way to do a program, or read books that will motivate and inspire you to change. Of all the people I never thought would change their lifestyle was my own father and he is my living proof that anyone can transform their health.
I love Dr. s and this is not meant to Dr. bash, but your Dr. is not the person to go to for lifestyle change. They are not well trained in nutrition and they are just too busy to really take the time these thing require. But the information is out there and I hope you can get into it and get inspired. Make one meaningful change at a time, rebuild your recipes one by one. I wish you all the best.

Some Prilosec will help with the heartburn/reflux.
As for the fatty liver, if you take care of your liver, it can get better and you can avoid it becoming a chronic problem.
There are some teas which can help (Traditional Medicinals Liver Detox tea) (they are bitter tasting but you get use to it) and some supplements might help - vitamin E, milk weed thistle, drinking grapefruit juice (once your reflux is under control).
If you drink any alcohol, cut back or stop - it just irritates your liver.
No Tylenol - that also can irritate your liver.
Watch your fat intake, reduce it if you can.
Use olive oil instead of butter in your cooking where ever possible.
Drink plenty of water.
Get some exercise (walk, take the stairs instead of elevators/escalators).
Eat plenty of vegetables (some like to use juicers, but the fiber is good for you, too).
Dropping even just a few pounds will help relieve some of the stress your liver is under.
Altogether it sounds like a lot, but even making one change at a time, and keeping it up can add up to a lot of difference.
And you'll feel better!

Hubs had fatty liver. It seems to be in check now. A major overhaul to his diet, and weight loss (via lap band) were what helped. The acid reflux, and stomach pain also improved with the weight loss.

Try improving your diet and getting some exercise, it should help your liver, and it will help you overall.

Good luck to you and yours,
F. B.
