Fathers Day Ideas with 1Yr Old

Dear Ladies,

I'm trying to come up with a fun and creative Father's Day activity for my husband and my father (granddad to my son) but most of the Father's Day things advertised are going out to eat. My 14 month old is not the best in restaurants, especially things like Outback, etc. Does anyone have any creative ideas for something that a baby and the Dads would enjoy? I think my creativity has gone down the drain as my exhaustion has increased.

What can I do next?

So funny, I read this and I to was trying to plan something special. I was thinking of Lion Country Safari...and in todays paper they have a coupon Daddys go free...Sun Sentinel. My husband has been wanting to go, so weather permitting this is what we will do. Also, another idea was butterfly world, my 14 month old Dakota...she loves it there! Again they also have a coupon in the paper for daddys go free. I have yet to go buy todays paper, however I will...my mother said there are tons of ideas for fathers day in todays Sun Sentinel!

Also, I was wondering if you live close to Tamarac, we both have 14 month babies....thought it would be coll to start a play group. I am 35 also, and I work as well!

How bout this? Get some plain white T-shirts and some paint. Write Happy Father's Day and then put your son's handprints and feet prints on the shirt. You can get really creative with all the different colors and types of paint and fabric markers that are out there now.

This is a project that can be done relatively inexpensively and it is something that will be a lasting memory whether Daddy and Graddad ever wear the shirts or not.

I realize I'm talking about gifts and not activities, but honestly with a child that young I think you should ask Daddy what he wants to do and let him figure out how he wants his day to go, rather than trying to plan something...
God Bless!

I know we always have fun when we go for a picnic at Lake Eola. We bring a blanket, some food (or just get some Panera), and then just eat by the lake. Our toddler usually will eat with us, and it doesn't really matter if she gets a little wild, or decides she wants to get up and walk around. Then it's always fun to go over to the playground. Most of the stuff is still too big for little kids, but they love the swings, and even just walking around with the big kids. Plus, your husband gets a glimpse of all the fun that's to come. Oh, one more thing- take a ball. Our daughter just likes to walk around with hers, and sometime we can convince her to throw it or kick it. Have fun with whatever you decide on!

Maybe the zoo. That is always a nice day. You could have a picnic at a local park. Good luck! I am sure you will have a nice day.

This is too late for this year. Last year I took my son (then 22months old) and his father to the Brevard Zoo. I told my husband it was a surprise and he had no idea where we were going. (We live in Orlando) The zoo was great.

Dear C.,
Over the years I have tried alot of stuff....However depending where you live and the options of your area, but a nice picnic might be just the thing...THEME: "Fathers day in the Park", Fathers day at the Beach, Fathers Day at the Zoo, Fathers Day on the Green-(golf course), Think of his favorite place (maybe even home) and create the whole father day theme around what he likes (a hobby, sport ect...) Then light picnic lunch at a place he likes...at 14months Robbie only really cares about his time with you & his Dad & Granddad...Good Luck

Picnics are always fun for everyone.

Here's a link to Babyzone They usually have some good ideas.

You can check your local paper for Father's Day Activities. The zoo is always a good one. Even the park would be fun for everyone too. Bring bubbles and a ball.
