My husband is a contractor at work and the insurance offered is very high. He will probably be hired permanent this next year. Does anyone have a recommendation on insurance plans. I've looked online but it's so much info. I'll tackle it again tomorrow but I wanted to throw this question out there to the smartest in the community - Moms!!!!

What can I do next?

Scott & White offers good affordable coverage, both medical and dental. They are widely accepted in the area, so you should have your pick of providers. They have plans with low deductibles and low copays. I am self-employed and have been where you are. I would go with Scott & White. Their customer service so far has been excellent also.

We have a HumanOne high deductible plan and it covers well visits at 100% and negotiated rate for the other dr and hospital visits. We have a Health Saving Account to pay bills out of and take contributions off our taxes + the balance rolls into savings if it is not used.

I think Scott and White is cheaper and just as good, but we travel too much with two kids and needed wider coverage.

Love my Scott and White insurance plan! My husband is self employed so we're on our own for insurance. The premium, deductible and co-pay are all very reasonable for vision/dental/health care. Our doctors are great and we're about to deliver our second at their hospital which has been great too. Their website gives premiums if you want to check it out www.swhp.org.

Hi M. -

We just went through this and I told my hubby that I refused to pay 1K a month or more for family insurance - that just didn't sit well with me. Soooo we contacted this guy - Kurt Dixon ###-###-#### (he is local) and he set us up with what is called Catastrophe Insurance. We rarely go to the doctor and so we decided on this being the best fit for us - short term. It covers for any emergency/diaster.

Kurt found us a great set-up with American Republic Ins. Co. We basically chose what we wanted - it was amazing! I am really pleased with it and we are MAJORLY covered if anything happens to any of us or our kids - up to 5 million. There are other great bonus' too in our plan. It will run us around 400.00 per month (family of 4) and I feel that is much more acceptable. *** Also, Kurt will bend over backwards for you - always return calls, answer any questions, no matter what they are - he is a real stand-up guy and ever so friendly and easy-going. I am very happy with this coverage!
