I got a great response from a previous question regarding my son, so I was hoping to try again, just about a different issue.
I went to the doctor with migraines and nausea issues. I am anemic but he basically advised he believed it to be migraines. He asked if there was any chance that I might be pregnant but I advised him that my fiance had a vasectomy 6 years ago. But just to be safe, he ran a full blood screen, including an HCG Qual, which to our surprise came back positive.
I was directed to visit my ob/gyn wherein the span of two weeks I have had my blood drawn 7 times, had a regular sonogram and 2 internals sonograms done. My sonograms came back normal, no tubal pregnancies, no tumors or cysts. My HCG level was increasing but not like it should. It wasn't doubling every few days. The dr checked for cancer and all the results and markers came back normal. He basically told me that I have the HCG hormone that "shows" as if I am pregnant and that he has never seen this before in his 40 years of practicing. I kinda feel like I did when I was pregnant with my son in the beginning, the nausea, the sensitivity to smells, tired. I am a little nervous with all of this.
Has anyone ever heard of something like this? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!!
High HCG levels could mean a Molar Pregnancy, I had one. Ask your OB about the possibility. Good luck!

I was thinking a Molar Pregnancy but usually a sonogram would detect that. I had one about 9 years ago. I'm sure your OB/GYN has already thought of that. Hope your better soon.
the raised pregnancy hormones could be whats make you feel like you do. you just need to find out why they are raised.
Sorry you are dealing with this, what a crummy situation. Did anyone mention a change of an early miscarriage or a molar pregnancy? I would think these might show on an ultrasound, but I believe elevated but steady HCG fits thsoe situations.
I guess you might want to take your lab results and get a second opinion with another GYN. Perhaps you might want to consider seeing an oncologist to rule out anything serious.

Your doctor should be able to give you an answer. There are many reasons why your HCG levels would be "off." Ask about an ectopic pregnancy. I think it's different from molar pregnancies. It's when the egg is implanted outside the womb. HCG levels are known to be present and increase but not double like a normal pregnancy. The developing embryo may not be able to be detected by ultrasound. If it is an ectopic pregnancy, it may lead to other complications so please ask your OBGYN about it ASAP. I would get a second opinion from another OBGYN if you don't get a definite answer.
My sister had a benign (noncancerous) growth on her pituitary gland which caused her hormones to be off. Hers was a prolactin issue but wondering if something affecting one of your glands may be throwing off your hormones. Very common, just google it. hope its something quick and easy to take care of. good luck.
