I have really oily skin and when I wear eyeliner, by the end of the day, the grease on my eyelids make them smear onto the top half of my eyelid ( i guess they touch when i blink??). what's your fave eyeliner that doesn't smear? TIA!!

What can I do next?

I use an eyepencil then with a pointy applicator apply some powder eyeshadow of the same color over the eyepencil. Unless I cry it stays put - and sometimes even if I do cry!

First, you need to find a good eyeshadow primer to apply to your lids. The next part is where is can get a little tricky. Have you tried liquid eyeliner and waterproof mascara? I usually dab loose powder on top of either liquid or pencil and blend my base eyeshadow into the eyeliner. If you curl your lashes, do them before you apply the liner.

Lancome's liquid eyeliner is the best. It is super easy to put on (one of the number 1 complaints of liquid eyeliner), it dries quickly so when you blick the liquid doesn't get in the crease of your eye (do let it dry for a moment) and comes in lots of pretty colors. Nordstrom carries more colors, but Sephora carries them as well. They're as easy as using a pen on your eye, I love them.

I use dark eyeshadow and apply it wet with a liner brush. You can also take any liner and apply dry matching shadow on top to "set" it. I do that when I am in tropical climates. even if you apply a brown eyeliner and set it with say a dark purple your liner will now be purple. It is pretty fun to do!

Any liquid waterproof eyeliner...

When you put it on, blow upward to dry it, or you'll get a line from blinking. Only takes a moment to blow dry.

To apply... pull the corner of you eye out (making a southern Asian looking eye), and raise your eyebrow. This makes your eyelid perfectly smooth, and allows a perfect line to be drawn (thin or thick). I do this with pencil liner, as well (Revlon self sharpening, twist to extend, waterproof pencil), but pencil liner is a lot more 'forgiving'. Liquid needs a really smooth working surface.

Liquid is also a lot more pigment rich. If you usually use black liner, use espresso brown. If you usually use espresso brown, use a lighter brown. The color will be much closer to what you usually use than the "same" color.

I use a gel eye liner from L'Oreal that comes in a little glass tub and is applied with a nice little eye lining brush. It stays on really well and doesn't smudge. I love it.

One of the best brands out there is Make Up Forever. Their aqua liner is supposed to be amazing. You can get this brand at Sephora.

What I do though is use a dark powder liner and it works much better IMO. I like Bobbi Brown or one by Sonia Kashuk at Target that has 6 different powder eyeliner colors. You put it on with an angled eyeliner brush. Sometimes I wet the brush and do a line that way and then put some dry over top.

You should also look at an eye primer if you are that oily. It may help hold it on better for you. Urban Decay Primer Potion is a good one.

I have that problem with liner & eyeshadow, everything ends up in the crease of my eyelid. A good primer can do wonders. My current routine is to put on my regular eyeliner, then a Lash primer from Mary Kay, then waterproof mascara over that. The combination seems to keep everything in place pretty strong - it doesn't come off in the shower, I have to use eye makeup remover!
