Experiences with Kennestone OBGYN or OBGYN Associates in Marietta

K., Marietta OBGYN Affiliates is great group. I had to wait until about 8-9 weeks before having my first visit, too. Not to scare you, but if anything's going to "happen" it's more likely to happen in the first few weeks and there's nothing that can be done to stop it. Waiting unitl the July 28th is not that big of a deal.

My favorite Doctors there are Vonda Klein, Carlos Alarcon and Elizabeth Taghechian. I had pre-eclampsia and they were all great and I had a pleasant experience at Kennestone.

I also delivered at Marietta OB/GYN Associates, so I'm a little biased. I thought they were excellent. I got an opportunity to see both doctors and midwives since I didn't know who would be on call when I delivered. They supported me when I wanted to get a V-BAC and I loved my main doctor, Dr. Huffman. From what I remember, unless you're there for a pregnancy test, they usually do like to see you when you reach about 8 weeks. I know it's exciting to get the ball rolling, but I think your appt. date is pretty reasonable.

I also love Obgyn Associates in Marietta. Dr. Tackitt delivered my 10 month old little girl. They normally don't want to see you until you're about 8 weeks pregnant & that could also be a reason why you didn't get an appointment until July 28th. I didn't see any of the midwives but saw all of their doctors during my pregnancy & they were all great! They're definitely worth the wait & Kennestone was also the best hospital to deliver in. It's not as crowded as most of the others, the rooms are nice & big & the staff is incredible! Good luck with your pregnancy.

Congrats! Marietta OB/GYN Associates delivered my 2-year old daughter. I would recommend them to anyone!!!! They rock. The midwives, Monica, Peggy, Michelle, are all tops. The doctors rock! I wanted the option of having a VBAC with Corinne, and Dr. Huffman delivered her via one. Other docs probably would have pushed for a CSection, given that our first child came via that method.

Go Marietta OB/GYN Associates!!! Yay for Them!! Oh, and by the way, there are some seriously cool antiques at their office. Your husband would probably be duly impressed.

Do NOT use this practice!!! In June I had my first OB appointment. Two weeks later the billing department called to explain the $750 bill they were sending, $500 of which was the deductible. I paid the bill and my check was cashed. Coincidentally, the same day the check was cashed I was suffering from severe neck pain and called the office to ask about seeking chiropractic care. After three phone calls from a nurse and having never spoken to the doctor, I was instructed to go to the ER to be tested for meningitis. I argued that I didn't have a fever and didn't think it was meningitis but they scared me into going, saying I couldn't put my baby at risk. Just like I thought, I didn't have meningitis. Fast forward a couple weeks and my insurance is stating that I owe the ER bill because I hadn't met my deductible. I argued that I had paid this practice $750 and after dozens of calls to this practice and my insurance provider, it was finally communicated to me that Kennestone OBGYN shouldn't have billed me and they owed me a refund. I learned today that it will be 9/27 that I'll get the refund - at the earliest. Yes, 3 months later. My new OB (the doctor, not a nurse) always calls me back within an hour and that office actually checked my insurance before sending out any bills. I strongly urge anyone considering this practice to find another provider.

I absolutely would NOT recommend them! Stay away... far away. I had the worst result possible! Do not trust them to do the right thing by you or your baby!

I delivered my second child with Kennestone OBGYN midwives across from Kennestone hospital. Kennestone didn't "force" an epidural like Northside did, nor disrespect me for wanting to wait for my baby's vaccinations and vitK drops, so I got my natural delivery without all the fuss. But you really need to tell the day staff to close your door or they will leave you naked for all to see!

And remember, if you don't like the crew that's there, you have the legal right to kick them out and get another -- I had to at Northside to avoid an unnecessary c-section.

Would recommend also adding a Doula if you can afford to. Nurses and midwives are great, but they are just an arm of the doctor/hospital -- a Doula is there for you alone and will suggest options/positions no nurse or midwife will. Having been in the position at Kennestone to make suggestions for a better delivery of #2, I realize #1 wouldn't have taken so long if I had a Doula completely on my side.
