Exercise Video?

With a 3 yr old and 5 mo old I have very little "me" time. During nap times I find myself catching up on housework or laundry...so "me" time is almost nonexistent. When I had my first child, going to the park and walking for an hour was always a treat for the both of us. Now with two, it's a lot more difficult (especially with out a double stroller). I want to lose weight but exercise is getting harder and harder to come by. I'm looking in to buying a work out video that can get me through those days that I just can't exercise otherwise. Has anyone had success with work out videos? Can you recommend one?

What can I do next?

I bought Jorge Cruise's book "8 Minutes in the Morning". I got it at half price books, but you can order from Amazon, Barnes and Noble etc.

I have not managed to get my exercise down to 8 minutes- all the instructions are in the book with pictures et al- but I do have it down to 12 minutes. Literally. From the time I am in the living room with my worksheet to mark off my day- my choice you don't have to do that- to putting my book back on the shelf and waking my husband for work, it is 12 minutes. the only other excercise I do is walking for 28 minutes 3 days a week. the book discusses the necesity of cardio workout so your walking is not a leisurely stroll, but power walking. I carry hand weights when I go. I usually do that at night when my daughter is in bed and my husband is home. Every now and then I'll get up earlier to do it before he leaves for work, but most of the time it is at 8 or 8:30 at night.

In any event, I lost weight, have kept it off for a year and now only excercise 5 days a week instead of 6, plus the walking.

The book also has a lot of diet adjustements and health info in general. I made some of the diet adjustments- like adding flax oil or flax seed to my diet and drinking less juice (which is really a bunch of "sugar") and bought a juicer and now our family juices 3 times a week. That was really all the adjusting I did. It is a great book and program and you can easily fit this into your day.

Good luck!

I would recommend Leslie Sansone's "Walk Away The Pounds." I am a retired baby boomer and I have Leslie's one and two mile video. I love walking to this workout video. You are younger and may want to walk more miles. If so, there are quite a few videos to choose from. You can find Leslie's videos here on the internet.

If you have Time Warner, check out their exercise on demand channel! It's really cool, they have many to choose from that you start whenever you have time. It is in the upper 900's, maybe 990 or around there. Good luck!

One that I really enjoy doing and it is a really nice one to start out with is called "The Walk Diet". There are many different ones and they are done by a woman named Leslie Sansone. She is a christian lady and she is a great encourager. One can walk up to three miles without ever walking out the door of your house. You can usually start at a one mile and work up to the three mile. I know that they can be found online and also in family christian stores. I wish you all the best. I, too, am in your situation... we have two and no double stroller and only one car. It is very hard to get out and be super active in those conditions. I wish you all the best and let us know how it goes so we can cheer you on.

Check out the Tone and Tune (www.toneandtune.com) video. It was created just for this reason - get's mom back into shape and incoporates the little ones. It also has musical education and key learnings for the little ones so it is good for you and for them. It includes three workouts (cardio, yoga, and core fitness).

HI N.! I know how you feel! I only have 1 child at home with me all day, but I have 1 child in school and I run a business from home! Sometimes I feel like it is NEVER GOING TO END! I try very hard to just get out and walk for at least 45 minutes as much as possible if not for physical benefits but at least MENTAL! But I know that it must be hard with 2 little ones. I did the "on the ball" work out and it work AMAZING! (of course this was before I had my little one... I ordered a dress for my cousins wedding and it came in 1 size TOO SMALL!- So I did this work out daily with of course watching my diet and I fit in the dress in 3 1/2 weeks!! I was shocked!) So I hope that helps...
