Everyday China

You may be looking for something MUCH nicer, but we use Crate & Barrel's glass dishes. We have had them since we got married (almost 5 years) and love them. They haven't chipped, but they do have a few minor scratches on them. I wasn't thrilled with that idea at first, but my husband really liked them when we were registering so we went with them. Now I LOVE them...b/c they are glass they go with any "decorations"...no worrying about whether they match or will look off with our holiday stuff.

I don't know if this is on the market anymore, but our everyday table settings are Mikasa Maxima. Mikasa sold it as "super strong fine china," and I think we have only broken one plate over the last 15 years. (It was a hand-me-down from my Mom!!) Not a single piece has ever chipped. It goes from freezer to oven, and it is microwave and dishwasher safe. Very durable! Good luck -- I hope they still sell something like it.

I have a Crate and Barrel plain white set. I thought it would be boring at first but learned to love its simplicity. We have had them for seven years and they still look brand new.

I have Lenox China, Butterfly Meadow pattern for my everyday
china and it holds up beautifully and they are always coming out with new pieces. It has been very chip resistent, but they do however have a breakage policy, so if a piece chips or breaks, you can call Lenox and they will send you a replacement piece for half-price. Check them out on line, or at Macy's and Carson's.
