Hello again Moms,

I am down to my final two names of what I'd like to name my son and we just can't decide!
I like Evan and Jackson alot but my family has strong opinions on which name they like best and it's really making my decision even harder!
I'm not sure on a middle name yet so please if you have any that you think go good with the names I've mentioned, I'd love to hear them!
Thanks so much for any help!

So What Happened?

Well Moms, we chose Evan Alexander for my son. I LOVE it and am so happy we did.
My sister came up with the middle name at the hospital and the first nurse that I told his name to says, Oh a strong name....I like it! : )
I was happy to hear that and thank you all for your input!
I really appreciate it.

I like both names. You could put them together, or pick either name and have Nate (you are N.) as the middle name. Let's toss it out there to see how it looks in print:
Evan Jackson
Jackson Nate
Evan Nate

I think deep down in your heart you already know.
Picture your self calling him. What sounds more natural to you? I remember when we were picking names, we said them out loud to see how we liked the name sounded.
So, do you see your self a few years from now...

Evan.... EEEEvan... Dinner's on the table.
Jackson.... Jaaaackson.... dinner time.

and about family preferences.... it's your child. their input is appreciated however the ultimate decision it's yours. ;)

N.~I personally like Jackson. That's my little guys name. We named him Jackson Merrill, the middle name is a family name. But, I have heard of a TON of people naming their son's Jackson lately. When we came up with the name it was like 6 or 7 years ago and no one named their son that, or it was extremely rare. Now that's all I hear are kids with that name. I would go with Evan it it were me because I haven't heard of very people naming their sons that lately. Like other posters have suggested, maybe name him Evan Jackson that way you don't have to pick!

Congrats on the upcoming birth of your son! Let us know what you decide :)

With each of our children, I got to pick a name and DH got to pick a name. It was fun. I didn't have any pressure b/c neither of our dads like their names and didn't want us to pass them on. I think that Evan Jackson sounds gorgeous. Your family doesn't have to wear the name. You are carrying the little one, and you should be the ones to choose. My bday is the day after he is due to arrive. I hope he's a day early or a day late. Being called almost an April fool all my life has been more than a little annoying.
BTW we have Nicholas Jayden (Nicky) and Anthony Jordan (AJ). Avoid names such as Chase (you don't want to Chase him) and Justin Casey (just in case he...?). Little pitfalls we ran into during our negotiations.

Maybe this will help to break the tie:
1. Look at what the initials would be and determine if you have a preference one way or the other in that respect.
2. The combination of middle names with the first name - what rolls off the tongue better? No middle name Evan Jackson...there ya go!! LOL
3. Investigate the meanings of both names and see if either of those breaks the tie.
4. Investigate both sides of the family trees, go way back if possible, and see if there is any family history which would enrich one name or the other for your son.
5. If you are going for a simple tie breaking vote via friends, family and mamasource, I vote for Evan because I have heard of more Jacksons than I have Evans lately - and I try to go for the unique.

Good luck and please let us know what you and your family finally decide! OH and congratulations on the pending new addition to your family!

Okay, I just had to chime in...I like both names but "Jackson" seems to be one of the "in" names now. There are sooooo many. My son is Jack William (his due date was April 1st but we are celebrating his 4th b-day today, March 1st) and everyone assumes that "Jack" is short for "Jackson". We know several young "Jacksons". I did like the one lady's suggestion that you could use "Jax". That was different and sounds cool. The other suggestions were good too. Look at initials, say the names out loud, etc...Don't worry, you'll get it and it will be perfect for your little guy.

I like Jackson! I like Jackson Lee. My sons name is Ty Dane. Dane is his daddys middle name. I like Ty b/c its normally not used for a first name. But it fits my son! Good luck!

I like Jackson. I've liked Harrison for a long time but have a friend who used it so I wouldn't use it myself.

To me, evan is pretty boring. I like Jackson though...you could even go a little edgy and spell it Jaxson and nickname him Jax? I don't know...but I do like Jackson better.

Ty or Dal, two of my all-time favorite boy middle names. They go with anything and they're both wonderful (consequently, one is my husband and one is my grandfather so they work for me in other ways too!)
