I know it will sound cheezy, but we love it. We go to a local fun place that offers putt-putt golf, go-catrs and all kinds of arcade games. We play putt-putt; neither of us is good, but we always make the bet that the winner gets a foot rub or back rub and then challenge each other to air hockey or any other silly arcade game we can find that we understand. finish the night with some ice cream and you have a wonderful memory.

P.,
I know that usually you think of a museum or the zoo as places to take the kids, but they are really great places for the two of you to go. You have such great opportunity to just talk as you walk along, experiencing it as a couple. You will learn more about each other because there is some kind of science about being physically occupied and that letting you communicate better, or more freely. I hope you get to reconnect. Good luck!

Me and My husband had the same problem, so we are going to try cosmic bowling this weekend. We haven't bowled since we had kids, so we thought it would be fun and different from the movie thing.

I don't know where you live, but in the Tulsa area you can go bowling, indoor miniature golf, casinos, pool halls, video game arcades, comedy clubs, dancing, concerts, it really just depends on what your interests are. Depending on how long you have a sitter, you could always stay in a hotel with an indoor pool/spa and just relax and enjoy time with each other. Whatever you decide to do, on behalf of all busy moms, have a GREAT time and enjoy yourself!!! :o)

I don't know how big your town is, but mine is pretty small. We do have a community center that offers dance lessons for couples. My sister and her husband sometimes go to Starbucks and just hang out. Perhaps when its warmer out, you could check out the historic sites in your area, go to a museum or a sporting event. I'm sure there are lots of things you could do! Also, look in your newspapers community happenings section. I never get to a lot of the stuff ours lists, but they have all types of things. Certainly something would appeal to the two of you. Hope this helps!

Bowling. Dance classes. Indoor putt-putt. Pottery painting. Pedicures. Some of these sound girlie, but really, how about going for a dual massage, try Jenni's Salon.

Hi P.!
Last time my hubby and I went out ALONE and had a great time. We went up to Sir Laugh Alot's in Springfield. (It's at Sir Gregory's) It's a great comedy club and they always have things going on and bring in some great comedians! It's something "different" and fun!

Hi P.,
When my husband and I get some time. We like to drive to a smaller town and check out what it has to offer. We like historical places and antiques so getting lost is very fun for us.

Well, it's been forever since my honey and I have gone on a date...we're still recovering from xmas! So dinner and a movie sounds fabulous to me! But we've really found that we have a lot of fun when we "do" things together, like bowling, or going to a basketball game or going and playing pool together (which of course is him playing pool, and me pretending to enjoy myself while he teaches me...) going to the casino. Sometimes when all we do is go to dinner all we talk about is bills, the baby, work....and inevitably get in a fight! When we're doing something else we end up laughing and flirting and talking about things other than relationship issues and the baby!

Love and good luck!

Depends on the time of the year and the weather really and where you live for that matter. There are always places like All Star Sports where they have arcade games, go karts, sometimes laser tag, etc. those are always fun to bring out the kid in you again and just have fun, most of the time when you take your kids places like that you do not get to enjoy it!
Some theaters have now where you can eat while you watch the movie I have always thought that would be fun. Then maybe after you could find a classy or not (depending on your mood, lol) bar maybe one that has live music. You could just sit and have a few drinks or even pop or tea if you don't want to drink. Hope this gives you a few ideas!

Do you have a local winery you could go to in your area?

I know we have one outside of where I live and it's in an old farm house, very cute setting and they do dinner and wine tasting. It' makes for a great date night and something outside the norm.

I know this will sound silly, but bowling. My husband and I had never bowled together since we have know each other, 12 years. We had a drink and bowled and laughed and had a lot of fun. You need to find ways to play together, golf, putt putt, frisbee golf, take a cooking class, wine tasting class, concert, things you did when you dated. Take turns planning the date and surprising each other with what you planned. Good Luck.

Do Nelson's Art Museum - they have a cafe there and you can walk and look at art! I wonder if their new building is open?

P.,

Depending on what you like, I would suggest a couple of things such as dinner out with a stop at a Jazz or Blues club. Go to a concert, ballet or Opera if you enjoy those things. My parents give us certificates to the American Theatre in Crown Center for a great night out. The Nelson Atkins also has evening hours Friday and Saturday. If there is an exhibit you would like to see you could stop at the Rosselle Court for a great super later. I would look for something you used to enjoy doing when you were first dating and try to do something similar. I love art galleries, but my two year old would not do well in a formal museum setting. Speaking of museums Union Station also sounds like a fun place to explore with great restaurants.

I don't know what is available in your area, but here are some general ideas. During the warmer months my husband and I will go to a local sports complex for mini golf or baseball cages. When it is colder we have gone to clubs, thought about seeing a pink floyd laser light show and hopefully in March we'll go see Cirque Du Soleil-Delirium. How about a Dinner Theatre or a hockey game?

Not only could you have dinner, you could go ice skating or go listen to live music at one of the local bars. What about strolling the Plaza and maybe a carriage ride (assuming the weather warms up again sometime).

You could do a dinner theater, or go to Dave and Busters and act like kids with the games. Go bowling. Be creative!

I know it may not work right now due to weather being cold; however, one idea my husband and I do is a late picnic dinner and lay out under the stars. This also works if you have a fairly dark park area or lake area you can go to.

Another idea is a romantic lovers night. Rent a hotel room, even if it is in the same town, and spend the night as lovers not just as husband and wife. This helps to spicen up the relationship and the bedroom life if things seem a little dull. Plus you get to act like newly weds or hopelss lovers instead of husband/wife and daddy/mommy.

Lastly, see what other kinds of shows and things you can go to around your town or near by towns. You do not have to limit yourself to movies, but try concerts, theater, etc.

Hope these ideas work for you :)

I completely understand. I found myself just going out to NICE restaurants and we often don't do the movie. To be able to sit and talk without anyone bothering us was just a treat in itself. I took him to the Melting Pot. It's very nice and the meal takes awhile so you have awhile to chat. I think they even have a coupon online (at least they did once) where you can get a chocolate fondue for free! Yum!

Work out together at one of the 24/7 workout centers. Walk around Hefner Lake. Hang out in Bricktown. Go to the Myriad Gardens. Ride through neighborhoods and look at big, pretty houses. Go get a manicure/pedicure together. Go get a room at a local hotel that has an indoor pool. Go to a day spa. Get massages. Volunteer at a homeless shelter and leave with a whole new outllok on your personal life. Babysit for another couple. Join and attend a book club. Whew!!!!!

Skip the movie and just do dinner. Find a place that isn't really busy or is used to people taking their time and talk. Don't talk about the kids or the house. Focus on each other.

Hi P.,

We like to go to the Shawnee Mission Park or other with a lake, sometimes we go with the kids, but in the evening if it is nice and warm, rent a canoe or a paddle boat! We have our own canoe and a silboat, my hubby is a windsurfer and he loves sports! Or simple stoll around the lake after dinner looking at the stars without the kids!
Whatever you do...have a great time!
