Does anyone have any cute suggestions on cute inexpensive items to put into an Easter basket this year instead of so much candy? I have 3 daughters ages 11, 9 and 6! Thanks in advance!

Try giftcards for ice cream, Chick Fil A, Wendy's, etc. You could print off homemade coupons for "good for one free chore", "good for one sleepover". You could also take the money you would normally spend on the candy and get it all in quarters or dollar bills and put it the eggs. When kids get older they like season passes to Six Flags or Hawaiian Falls.

My mother used to put everything under the sun in mine:

fingernail polish, hair accessories, bracelets, toys r us GC, photo frames, key chains, bubbles, coin purses... target, walmart, and joann's are great for these. For different candy ideas, I like to hit Michael's

The last Easter basket I got was when I was in my 20s. She put a lucky rabbits foot in it... significant that the easter bunny was done. Not a suggestion for little ones, but Mom had a twisted sense of humor.

:) Happy Easter!!!!

I have a 4.5 yr old daughter and I try to do things other than sweets as everyone else gives that kind of thing to her. This year she is in love with nightgowns so I'm going to get one for her basket. She is also a shoe girl so I'm going to put some cute flip flops in there. I was thinking of a game that we could all play or a movie. I'm sure this is all a little more than the normal easter basket junk but its stuff she'll use and won't be all chocolate, etc.

We are also doing a scavenger hunt sort of with the eggs on Easter morning instead of the eggs with candy, etc. in them. I'm going to make clues that go in the eggs and have her use her brain to find the next one and then the basket will be at the end. My mom used to do this with me (even at your oldest daughters age) and I loved it.

Good luck!

I did art project stuff...finger paints for my little one and paint brushes for the older one. Plus, I did some bubbles, lip gloss, hair ties (my youngest is only 21 mos, but is inlove with hair ties!) that came in a cute purse, in fact I don't think I did any candy at all. I did get some jelly beans I will put out, but none for the basket. In the past, I have also done clothes and shoes and jammies. Books are good and so are movies or cds. I like another Mom's idea of summer-time stuff in the baskets...I am going to try to remember that one for next year!

Happy Easter!

Every year I do all of their summer gear in their easter baskets. Its stuff I have to buy anyways and I don't like to have to waste money on all the sweets and junk just to fill them up. I usually get a new suit, goggles, rings, pool shoes or cute flip flops, lotion...that kind of stufff. This year my kids really love webkins. I got them both the Easter Bunny one too. They are the greatest toys. Check them out if you haven't heard about them. They are stuffed animals that you get online with. Fun!

Hi N.! I actually have my own business and one of my most popular items are I Spy Bags, I make the larger ones for $15, but I also decided to make mini sized ones, for only $5 each. They would actually be perfect for all your daughters. I have sold them at craft fairs and I had pre-teen girls begging their moms for some! I can put the letters of their names in the bags too. Well, here is the link to my website so you can see what they are. I'm in Fort Worth and I can always deliver them to you in person so that you can be sure to get them in time.

Here is the link to my website that shows pics of the I Spy Bags and the different fabric choices that I have:

Here is the direct link to my store on Etsy.com, it has more pictures of what they look like on there. You can also read all the positive feedback I have gotten from other customers on there too!

I'm headed to the Dollar Tree on Belt Line and Plano this week. They have cute hair bows, kites, water guns, easter things, etc. and I agree about trying to be creative and not just give candy. Our neighborhood has an egg hunt and they each come home with a basket full of sweets. So our Bunny will be more of a toy giver this year.

I also have 3 girls. I went to Dollar Tree and bought baskets, coloring books, stickers, bubbles, stuffed bunnies, plastic eggs, kites and a few candies and spent about $30 then went to Target's $1.00 section and spent about $10 there. So I totaled about $40 for 3 fully filled baskets.
