Easter Basket for Baby

OK, let me preface this question by explaining that the only reason I am doing a basket for our daughter is to avoid Easter Bunny questions from her older brothers. Given that they believe that they get baskets from the Easter Bunny, I feel obligated to also do a basket for the baby who will be only five months old at the time. Does anyone have any ideas for basket stuffers for her?

Her Christmas stocking was already full of teething toys, rattles and those types of things. She won't take a pacifier anymore. Obviously, candy is out of the question. The only ideas I had so far are some tights/socks in cute girls colors and a new bottle... seems like a lame basket, doesn't it? Please help me to be more creative :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the great ideas to help the bunny this year. We recently started her on cereal, so a cute vinyl bib is perfect timing, and some freeze dried fruits and veggies will come in handy soon enough. She's also getting a stuffed bunny and a board book. Since her basket is smaller than her brothers', that pretty much fills it up. I'd still like to get her a small textured ball (to roll back and forth when she masters sitting up) but I don't know if I'll find one before Sunday...

I got my DD some mini bath books that I got from Target, a small stuffed bunny,a new sun hat, some Gerber Puffs...that sort of thing. This year she's still going to get more stuff than candy. I have a rabbit, some play dough, stickers and will be getting a book.

A real bunny rabbit...just kidding! (Seriously - not recommended. Too many people think it's a cute idea to get a pet rabbit for the kids for Easter and then by summer they all end up at the animal shelter because the kids get tired of them and nobody wants to take care of them anymore. Very sad.)

OK, enough of my soap box ranting:

Stuffed toy bunny, duck or lamb
Storybook about Easter or with bunnies in it, like "Guess How Much I Love You", "Runaway Bunny", "My Honey, My Bunny" (I also like the books with Gossie the Gosling and friends, as well as the original Beatrix Potter stories with Peter Rabbit)
Clothes and toys for spring/summer/outdoors
Bubbles
Rubber duckies and other bath toys
First Bible or first book of Bible stories

I did an easter basket for my baby too...and she was an only child at the time..lol. I figured she would look back at the pictures and I do scrapbooks for her as well so why not? Her first easter she was around 9 months. I did board books, abc blocks, a stuffed bunny (with stitched eyes, nose, mouth), socks, tights, baby keys, rubber ducky for bath and a few bath toys and a precious moments cross to hang in her room.

a new dress for Easter Sunday church
new shoes
new pjs
a plush bunny
a handheld age appropriate toy, like a little elmo radio or something.

Don't feel bad, I still make baskets for my 18 yr old daughter and step son! I need to ask what to put in those.

What about a bathing suit, sun hat, or things for Spring/Summer? This would work for the older children as well. Maybe even some outdoor toys or bubbles?

In my infants baby basket, I did things for his nursery, like cute wall letters, a little sunhat, a baby blanket... I still put a chocolate Easter bunny in there and split it with the husband.

what i did with my daughters first easter basket was this (she was only 3 weeks old though)- i got a little ball, a first easter bib, a cute outfit, socks, bows and a little toy. maybe put a new first sippy cup in there :) maybe a couple of small suckers. also let her sit out in the yard with some large plastic eggs around her with some beads in them to make them rattle. put her little gifts in large eggs so they can be opened.

Yep, I did the same thing with baby #2. I did it to avoid Easter Bunny questions and to show big brother that little brother gets gifts, too. I did a board book, a toy bunny and some colorful goldfish crackers (he was almost 1 year, so the crackers were fine). I think I also put some candy in his basket, but after Easter morning, we took all the candy and gave it out in small doses, so big brother had not idea how much candy he was getting nor from whose basket. My husband and I probably ate most of it (he, he).

look for a stuffed bunny that she can sleep with. when my boys were about that age we got them puffelumps. not sure if they sell them still but they turned out to be the best things ever. made out of the material that is the silky edge of a blanket. one had a bunny one had a mouse. carried them for a long time.

She's 5 months old. How lame can it be? LOL It'll be adorable!

Get some Gerber Puffs, socks like you mentioned, eggs filled with candy but just say, "Oops! The Easter Bunny must have put these in here by mistake!" and give them to the older kids, lol. How about hard cover books. A spring outfit. A big stuffed bunny!

My triplets each got a velour bunny for their first Easter at about the same age. To this day two of them cannot sleep without them or there's a panic.

My DD's lovey is a little blanket bunny. It's only about 1 square foot of blanket, with a bunny head and arm on it. She has loved that thing since she was 3 months old. They sell them at Target, and I think it would be a good basket stuffer. You could do some baby food 'treats' (fruit purees or something if you have her on solids yet), a couple cute outfits, a new baby toothbrush (if you are brushing her gums yet... or if she has teeth...) bath toys, hair ribbons, maybe even one of those little $10 inflatable baby pools.

If she is teething, then i would put some biter biscuits in her basket. I would also put some teething toys in it also if she is teething. You could also do some of the puffs that dissolve in her mouth.Put some books in there that are for little kids, the ones that are made out of cloth.Good luck

My daughter will be 4 months old come Easter (she has a 3 yr. old brother) and I plan on getting her a basket and putting a stuffed bunny and some books that are sorta of Easter/bunny related. I was in Barnes and Noble and they have a table set up in the childen's section that has all kinds of easter books and there is also a Peter Rabbit stuffed animal that I thought would be cute to pair up with the book. There is actually alot of cute things there come to think of it.... easy Easter shopping for a little one.

How about a little stuffed animal or toy?

You could put some small toys, outfits, a small bunny stuffed animal, maybe some hair clips (depending on how long her hair is getting), a photo frame for her first Easter picture. Maybe even a small book that she can hold and look at. They have plastic books so if she chews on them it would be ok. Or maybe you could get a Things Remebered engraved photo album that says "Babies First Easter (with the date) and she will have a momento. My daughter was 3 months old for her first Easter and she still got a basket. I bought alot of outfits and small toys for her to hold. I found a rabbit that said "Babies First Easter" in babies r us. Good luck and enjoy!!!

Go to Babies R Us, and there is a whole section of appropriate baby toys (the section is usually around the baby bath, bottles & other baby stuff - not by the toys). They have tons of stimulating baby toys that would fit into a basket. Put some of that kind of stuff in her basket. I found a darling (award winning) Baby Einstein toy that played classical music - babies can chew on it and the buttons are easy for babies to activate. My daughter LOVED it!

You could also add some teething biscuits (even if she can't enjoy them now) and some new baby spoons.

Good luck!

You don't say how old the baby is but what I did for my babies was a few jars of fruit/dessert baby food or baby treats (Gerber cookies etc.), a stuffed animal, and a book.

I'd just stick in stuff she was going to eat anyway-- jarred food (carrot, peas, "bunny food"). Maybe some new spoons and bowls, if she doesn't have them? Or a bunny bib?

When our twins were six months old we did clothes, books, and little toys. I think we found spring outfits. New bibs would work, too.
