Early Miscarriage - Water Breaking

Hi everyone,

This is something that has troubled me for years now, and it would mean a great deal if someone could clear this up, particularly someone with a medical background.
I was raped age 13/14, and suffered from irregular periods, extreme cramps, and other issues. At one point, I did not have my period for about 9 or 10 weeks. Then one day I seemed to have wet myself, with a clear, somewhat sticky and sweet-smelling liquid coming out of me. I don't remember how much exactly, all I remember is being embarrassed because I thought I had wet myself. After that, I bled for over a week, like a heavy period, but excruciating.
I have been sexually abused since early childhood, and so much of my memories are marred by extreme dissociation, with big blank patches in my memory. What I want to know is, was I pregnant? Because all of the signs seem to point to that. Inwardly, I believe i was, but I need to check these recollections and facts with someone else. I understand that it is uncommon for the water to break in the case of so early a miscarriage, but I'm not sure how else to explain the symptoms I experienced. If anyone could shed some light on all this, I would be endlessly grateful.

What can I do next?

If you have not been pregnant since, an examination by a Gynecologist
may be able to tell you if you were ever pregnant before.

That early in the pregnancy the miscarriage is usually like very heavy period. Lots of blood, usually cramping,.

I hope you will seek professional help. This type of trauma can be held in, but someday it could all come to the surface and could be more than you think you could handle. Better to deal with it now with guidance, than end up a wreck, lashing or acting out because it is too much pain.

I am sending you strength.

I haven't heard of water breaking at that point, mostly it's just spotting then a heavy chunky period that goes on and on.

I do think you were pregnant but since there was no test done it's not something that you can prove or not.

I know in your heart it's okay to mourn the loss of that child no matter how it came into existence. If you dwell on this experience still and it is effecting you emotionally please do find someone you can talk to about what you went through. There are many others who went through similar things and they can help you find ways to find some peace.

Oh, honey. I am so sorry you went through all this. And kudos to you for being an extraordinary survivor and getting through.

As someone else stated, there's not much amniotic fluid that early in a pregnancy. That doesn't mean you WEREN'T pregnant, and that you didn't miscarry, only that this doesn't sound like a textbook miscarriage.

But if you believe inwardly that you were pregnant then, then you may well be right.

You really need to talk with a professional. Those are not the symptoms of a miscarriage and you say your periods were not regular. What that does sound like is an infection but reproductively I have always been healthy so I wouldn't know what an infection beyond yeast looks like.

The other thing going on is you did not want to be pregnant. Every period was saying I am not pregnant so you wanted them. Since that one took so long you have this guilt that you wished a child away. You can't wish a child away, you need to find a therapist to help you work though that.

It is highly doubtful you were pregnant but please find someone to help you work through all of this.

Hi S.,

I have recently learned of what you are talking about. If you google it, you will find many, many women tell you they spoke to their doctor and not one of them knew what it was. I was on a blog tenaciously trying to figure this out for a young lady that had that "wetting" herself. (She was too embarrassed to ask anyone but me.) Finally someone chimed in from another culture and said it is not common, but normal in the development of young women. What she said was it is an overabundance of fluid making conception easier. In her culture, it is desired....Most women that were asking questions only had it happen to them once or twice...and that again, she said was normal. Being raped so young could possibly jump start a lot of things that would possibly not come about til later on in your development.

I'm so sorry for your situation. Please get to counseling. These blank spaces in your memory will continue to haunt you if you don't get help. There is nothing wrong with you.....you have been through too much to ignore this. I wish you well...

God bless,
M.

yes-it was probably that you were pregnant at the time. More important-please, if you have not already done so-seek some help and emotional support-I am begging God to protect you and bless you.
