Hello. I am looking for a place to get my daughters ears pierced. We had our 1st daughters done at her pediatricians office in FL at 2 months old. Our office here (Piedmont Pediatrics) doesn't offer the service. We are willing to travel a bit to find a reputable place, but are currently living in the Dunwoody area. Thanks in advance for your help!

What can I do next?

I went through the same thing when trying to find a good place to pierce our 9 month old. I found a pediatrician that does it, but you have to be their patient and we of course already have a ped. So I finally asked a mother in my neighborhood when I saw her 4 month old with peirced ears where they got it done. She told me Irroff's and Sons in Perimeter Mall. It's a jewlery store right next to Clair's. So we went there. The only problem is that John Irroff, the owner, did ours and he said he's been doing it for 30 yrs, but they were uneven. We took one out the next day and decided to have it done again. I have lived with uneven holes my whole life, and it sucks. Luckily, my daughter didn't cry so I wanted to go ahead and have it redone. There's a lady, Margaret, there that did it second time and I totally recommend her. They are the only 2 that do the peircing. Call there and ask for her and when she's working. She's very nice. ###-###-####. Good luck! Oh, and they don't ask about having shots. We aren't vaccinating, so that's not a problem.

I had both of my daughters' ears pierced at a Piercing Pagoda. My older daughter in St. Louis, MO, where we lived at the time. My younger daughter had her ears pierced at the Piercing Pagoda at Discover Mills. I never had ANY kind of problem with either girls' ears (at least until they were a couple of years old and started playing with them.)

They will pierce your baby's ears once she is two months and has had her first shots.

Hi S.,

Congratulations on two sweet daughters. I am a licensed cosmetologist in Florida, Tennessee and Georgia but not working in the profession at this time. I used to pierce ears for babies all the time in my salon.

Ear piercing guns are powerful and precise and other than the snapping sound, there is little or no pain involved. I was very, very thorough to clean and sterilize the ear lobe. The started ear-rings are pre-sterilized and in sealed packaged. One doesn't have to handle them, just open the pack and slip the stud into the gun. A special marker is used on each lobe to mark where the stud is to be injected so both sides match, then voila'!

I have noticed that many salons, even expensive ones, do not all observe the sanitation and sterilization techniques that they should as no one seems to be enforcing these laws. Perhaps someone on this site knows a salon that you would feel comfortable with. Even some jewelry stores used to have licensed cosmetologists available to do piercing in the store.

For any reading this reply, I had such a following of babies and children. Some would be scared once it was their turn. When necessary, I would let them watch me pierce my own ear (which eventually had so many piercings, I am amazed it didn’t drop off in the floor). Seriously, though (those superfluous holes grew back), I never had one customer get an infection. For some, they may get a fatty cyst in the lobe that goes away and is painless. Readers please understand that the ear and lobe must be kept clean and turned occasionally during the healing process. Do not try to change the piercing stud with something trendier until the ear is completely healed.

Hope this helps.
