I just got my daughter a DS for X-mas....and having some trouble finding games for her level. We have one..The Little Mermaid game...which she loves and seems to be her level. We bought "Paws and Claws" and it's even too difficult for me! Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

We had the same problem last year with my six yr old daughter. She got it for Christmas, but I am video-game illiterate... we even get confused doing webkins!! Either ask an older child to help, or just wait a bit. My now 7 yr old (will be 8 this Spring) lost interest, but just started at it again recently. It's like it all "clicks" for her now for some reason, and she is not having many problems at all.

Try Hello Kitty games- my 6 year old got one with her DS and she loves it- also has the Barbie Island Princess and she is able to play those games as well-

My 10 year old daughter tells me all the ones with plot get complicated quickly, so she recommended games like Catz or Dogz or Hamsterz where you raise a pet and take care of it, etc. Or a game called Pokemon Trozei which is a puzzle game which uses Pokemon characters but basically is a game where you line up the same images that then disappear and give you points. I think you also gather those disappeared ones in some kind of list and the object may actually be to "catch" as many Pokemon as possible but my daughter uses the game as just a puzzle. There are drawing games as well, I think she just got one called Art Academy that has some lessons on how to draw but also has a "free draw" option where you just doodle and color and I believe save the drawings (but you cannot move them to a computer). Enjoy!

My daughter who is 5 loves Mario Party, Carnivale games, build a bear, Dora and the Crystal kingdom (even though she's not really into Dora anymore.)
Good Luck!

My 7 year old dd likes:

Puzzler, Animal Crossing, Club Penguin Herbert's Revenge, Phineas and Ferb, Sims 2 Pets, Club Penguin Elite Penguin Force, Drawn to Life Spongebob Squarepants, Gardening Mama, Tinker Bell Lost Treasure, Sonic Classic Collection

She used to like the Littlest Pet Shops and some of the Petz games but she said they are boring now and hasn't played them in over a year.

My 6yo loves loves loves Cooking Mama. It's a really cute game. You use the stylus to chop, stir and fry up little meals. There's not really a plot to it but it's actually pretty fun!
She also just got the Cars game which is also cute. It's not just racing. In one of the games you're basically playing Simon with the stop lights. Great memory builder!!!

My almost 6 yr old daughter got an I Spy carnival game for her DS. She loves it! It's a great game because she is still learning to read and the words are not hard for her to figure out on her own :) We were wanting a game we didn't have to play for her and this one fits the bill perfectly!

My daughter has some great reading ones. She has Littlest Pet Shop also. She plays my older daughter's High School Musical one. I look for the 'Y' rating for her, I think. Whatever the youth or child one is.

My daughter is 6yrs old (will be 7 next week). Her DS game collection includes: ZhuZhu Pets, Petz Catz Clan, Petz Pony Pageant, Build-a-Bear Workshop, Lovely Lisa, Tinkerbell, Littlest Pet Shop, and Mario Party. Her favorite is Mario Party, ZhuZhu and Littles Pet Shop. She also really enjoys Build-a-Bear, too.

I asked the same question recently for my son who is five. Several were suggested, and we bought some, but the ones that have been age appropriate and easy for him are Mario Kart to learn how to do the controls and Super Mario Bros. Mario Kart was a great beginner. My husband was good at Super Mario Bros so that may have helped with that. I'm no good at any of them!

When my 6 year old first got his DS, MarioKart was one of the easiest games for him to play, he also like Mario Party (it's like a board game and you can be on a team with the computer), now that he has gotten used to using the controls, he loves all of the Lego games and Spongebob games.
