I'm getting my daughter a DSi XL for her birthday. Everyone wants to get her games for Christmas, but since the DS thing is new to us, I don't know what games to tell them she would like. Can anyone recommend some that your girls have really enjoyed?
I'm thinking about Cooking Mama, but looking at the Youtube videos of it, I'm not sure...?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the great advice! I appreciate the feedback from those of you who shared which games your kids actually enjoy playing. I could let her pick her own games, but she'd be picking from the title and the picture on the front. From purchasing many Leapster games that way, we've found that many of them were "duds" that just sit around collecting dust because she was bored with them after 15 minutes. I am going to go with Cooking Mama, Animal Crossing, Super Mario 64, My Sims Kingdom for now. You ladies are awesome! Thanks!!

I have a boy, but there are several games that both can play. They have pets, games pertaining to kids movies, etc. I suggest you go to a store and look at the DS games and jot down some names and then just give a list or game name to ppl. Should work out ok.

Good luck.

if she is 7 i would instead get her a Nintendo DS Lite.
Reason is, it doesn't have the camra function, but allows you to play Game Boy Advance Games.
Also it is much cheaper than the XL so if it get lost or damaged its not $$$.
but on the Game Boy Advance Games there are a bunch of movies. and more games that a 7 year old can handle by themselves.
DS games
Mario Party DS
Animal Doctor
Purr Pals
Pets ( any)
Nintendo Dogs ( any)
Viva Pinata
My sims Racing
Animal Crossing ( this ones lots of fun)

My daughter has a DOGS game and it is so cute! You pick a puppy and raise it and train it, etc. You can eventually get more (my daughter has three on hers right now and they play together) I think they have a horse version and a cat version as well.

My 7 yr old girl loves to play Mario with her friends
( the system links wifi to others)
but she really loves doing the "i" stuff included with the system.
Take a photo, change it, draw on it, the chat stuff and sharing mini animations and mini music videos.
No need to start with alots of games!!!!

My daughter loves the Mario games. She also has Littlest Pet Shop games. We started her on the Brain Age games now... She's getting better at multiplication.
Check some out online. That's how I found a ton of games for my daughter and her age. I just typed in 'DS games' in Google and started poking through.

Try "Animal Crossing" and "Dogs" my now 9 & 12 yr old girls love both games. When they first got them they were 6 & 9, 3 yrs later they still enjoy playing both games. Perfect "starter" and "grow with me" games.

cooking mama and cooking mama 2 are great games my 5yo loves them she also has princess and the frog, littlest pet shop, and my baby first steps that she plays the most. Cooking mama is probably the most played though I even played it on the drive to the beach when she was sleeping, out of boredom LOL Just browse though the kids games there are so many princess and girlie games it wont be hard to find her some.

I would suggest these as they have kept my daughter's interest: Carnival, Cake Mania or Cheetah girls. Those are the three she plays the most.
