Hello K.,
I remember those engorged problems. I do believe it takes more than 3 days to dry up. I guess it depends on the woman too. Good luck with that. G.

This may sound crazy but it REALLY worked for me. Go to the supermarket and buy a head of cabbage. Take a leaf off and put it in your bra. If the vains of the leaf are too hard and hurt...you can pound it first. Store the head of cabbage in the fridge. Change them as often as the cold leaf no longer feels soothing. Your milk should be dried up in a day or two at most.

Don't use the milk and it will dry up. You'll leak, buy pads and wear them until it goes away.

FYI, I stopped breast feeding at 6 mo. and pumped for a few months (6). She was 3 and I still had milk on occasion...It would just leak out all of a sudden. I'd feel the tingle and then dampness.

Well cabbage works for engorgement. But I have to ask, how old is your baby. I leaked for the 1st few weeks, just keep changing breastpads. It slows once your body finds the right rhythm for you and baby. For a while I was using the disposable pads, they seemed to keep the moisture away from my tops. Nowdays, I do well with the reusable. Best of luck.

If you are trying to dry up the milk because you are weaning Sudafed works very well. My doctor had me take one every four hours and it worked great. It needs to be the real stuff you get from behind the counter - not the Sudafed that is on the shelf.

Son't do this unless you are truly finished. Put a cabbage leaf inside your bra cups for the day...it will dry your milk completely!

Cabbage is a very well known solution. However, use it with caution if you want to keep breast feeding as it could be TOO effective!

When I was getting engorged, I used a hot facecloth and I pumped milk to use later, or I took a very hot shower and let the milk run.

HI... I was told by my physician to wrap (with something like an ace bandage) your breast REALLY TIGHT!!!!! and use ice packs over .. it kind of does the freezing effect. It may take a little while for the leaking to completely stop, but this atleast makes it bearable.

You can tightly wrap your breasts with cabbage. It takes at least a couple days, but it does work.
