Hi! Do you think I could use some of that dry shampoo stuff on my dog? He's not well and I can't imagine torturing him with a bath but he smells so bad it is hard to breathe around him. I'm afraid of making him sick if he licks himself and we haven't brushed it all out. Thanks---

What can I do next?

Bed Head has a product for dogs that helps get the stink out of their fur. I get it at Pet Smart, one of my dog's fur soaks up ANY smell so his fur is always "off" smelling and a few sprays and he is back to good. I would also contact a groomer and find out what they suggest - if they care about the animal they will give you real advice. I think a mobile dog wash may know how to benefit your dog.

They do make dry dog shampoo... http://www.4allvitamins.com/product_info.php?products_id=...
There are many other brands out there, but this is one I like. Kudo's for being so thoughtful of your pooch's feeling. Hope he gets better.

What if you used cornstarch instead? Absorbs oil and smells. I'd def. check w/ your vet first, though.

there is a spray dog shampoo that you don't have to "bathe" them, you just spray it on and towel dry them. works pretty good...i think it's made by hartz or someone. it's in a clear bottle and the liquid is light orange.

Have you seen the pet wipes? Some are made with all-natural ingredients so may not be as much of a concern if he licks himself. The wipes are nice because it's easy to be gentle on a sick pet and they just think you're petting them :-)

I remember bathing mine just days before he was put down...don't know if it felt good or not...for some reason I didn't want him dying and being dirty. Not sure if I regret doing it or not...but sometimes when you're sick a bath makes you feel better. I would ask your vet. I did mine purely out of love...and my heart was breaking and I was spending every second with him.
