Does any one know where I can purchase cans of Nestles Good Start Powder Essentials in Oakland County? I can only find it on-line.I'm new to this mothering thing, I assumed you could buy things in a store. I like to shop on-line but just need 1 can to take with me, plus the big can I already ordered. Also can you buy Seventh Generation Diapers in any store? I asked at Trader Joes they say not at their store.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Hi all. Thanks for your responses and concerns. I'm looking for the specific formula because that is what she is using now. I'm guessing we will change once home but it seems like a bad move right now until she and we are settled. The diapers are better for the environment so I started there. I might change depending on price and how hard they are to get. I guess the important thing is, has anyone seen the formula in a store?

L., my son was on Nestles Good Start and he absolutely loved the stuff! I will give it to my daughter too. I got the Essentials and then switched to the Easy Digestion kind and purchased both from Kroger.

Wow, how exciting for you to be picking up your bundle of joy this week. I love hearing success stories like yours. Congrats and enjoy! Keep us posted on your journey and continued adventures with your daughter.

Hi L.,

I bought my grandson Good Start from Kroger. I can't remember if it was the one at Maple/Telegraph in Bloomfield Hills or Maple/Woodward in Birmingham, but it was one of those. Call the stores to see if they all carry it. I've seen it around, but never paid attention because I always see it although I do know ours was purchased from one of those stores.
As for the diapers, my suggestion would be to find their contact number online, then call them to find out what stores in our area carry their product. I've done that with other products and have always had success.

Good Luck with your new daughter,
L.

Congratulations!!
First, so you know, formulas are FDA regulated, so you should be able to switch from brand to brand in the same type of formula. I always liked Target brand, but if necessary would use Wal-mart brand of the soy formula (daughter allergic to cows milk) and did occasionally use Good-Start soy. The only one I never really cared for was Meijer brand--didn't like the way it mixed. It's been a few years, but I used to buy it at Farmer Jack, and I think Target may carry it, and Meijers as well. And with Farmer Jack going out of business in this area in about 3 weeks you may get a heck of a deal.
I would call the local stores first and ask if they have it before you drive all over creation.

Good Luck. Have a safe journey.

i saw your earlier post about formulas. I have never heard of this brand of formula- I have never seen it in stores. I would not choose to use this brand of formula if it not something that you can buy at your local store. Unless your child has specific health problems-pick a brand of formula that is readily available at most stores. All formula must meet the FDA standards for nutrition-so all brand formula is adequate.

Diapers.. I have tried all brands... they all absorb fine. My daughter is very thin- so some brands fit better than others. I buy whatever is on sale. I do like pampers the best- but Luvs, and the store brands are also fine. We do buy Huggies Overnite diapers for nighttime-as my daughter sleeps 12 hours at night and was leaking all other dipaers.-- Dont be afraid to try the store brands.. walmart white cloud, kmart little ones, and target brand are all fine.. they will save you lots of money.. and I know that adoption is expensive..

Do you have to have those specific brands? The reason I ask is because I had both my daughters on the Costco brand of formula (which is significantly cheaper and just as good). i also had them in kroger brand diapers (which are also cheaper).

Hi L.,

First off Congratulations on your adoption!!!!

Just a precaution, the TSA may not allow you to take powdered formula on the airplane for your daughter. It will have to be premixed to be in the cabin, otherwise you will have to check it with your luggage.

What stores have you tried for this formula? I don't use that stuff, so I'm not sure myself, but I seem to find that Kroger and Meijer seem to carry just about everything.

Hope that helps! And again, congratulations!
