Any suggestions for a road trip from Chicago to Orlando then West Palm Beach, FL. We plan on taking our time and enjoying as much of the trip as possible.
Looking for stops along the way,
Reasonable priced hotels on the way, in Orlando or Jupiter area.
Also.. where to purchase discounted tickets to sea world, busch gardens or Disney
AYou should stop in Savannah, GA and St. Augustine, FL. Both are great cities and along the 95, which is a nice way to go if you are planning to end up on the east coast of FL. Also, The Space Center is fantastic and then would you only have to get back in the car for a few hours to get to West Palm.
Also, the only way to really get discount tickets to the parks is to be willing to sit through a time share presentation..
When I was younger, we drove from Iowa to Orlando...it was a fun trip. We stopped in Tennessee at the Great Smoky Mountains and it was so much fun. If you like the outdoors and really pretty scenery, you will love this area. The town we stopped in was Pigeon Forge.

I had to laugh, that is almost our exact trip we took a few years ago(except we came from Iowa)! We didn't do much sight seeing though...we were just concentrating on getting to Jupiter! My grandparents live down there in the winter! I LOVE IT!!! Do you have kids? One fun place we stopped is in your neck of the woods...not sure where it is from Chicago though. We stopped in Metropolis IL. The kids LOVED it! So much Superman stuff to check out!
Have you been to Jupiter before? We loved Coral Cove there...you could spend an entire day "shelling". Pack a lunch and bring beach shoes! Carlin Park was a little more of a swimming beach then shelling. But both beautiful!!!
We ate at Panama Hattie's on the water...awesome(a little more of a "fun" atmosphere)! Also, at Jetty's...good but a little more pricey and fancier. I think if you get there early, you can eat on the water there too. We just Pricelined all our hotels for the trip there and back.
We also did Lion Country Safari, outside of Jupiter I think.
Have a GREAT time! I am jealous! It has been my fav trip EVER and we even drove with a 2 and 5 yr old!
We always stop at jonesboro on the way to florida and marietta on the way home. we get through atlanta and then stop for the night. it is roughly half way for us from aurora illinois to naples florida. in atlanta we always go to the coca cola museum its well worth the few bucks to get in. you get to see all the coke stuff they have a little theater with old coca cola commercials and a tasting room. its a blast kids love it. we always go to jungle larry's zoo in naples also even though the kids are older they still love it now
We did a roadtrip last year going down to Nashville. I think Nashville is a great City and worth a stop, especially when you are into music. Lots and lots of stuff going on there. We stayed at a Quality Inn a little bit outside of downtown (but still walking distance). The hotel was ok, not great, but all the other ones were much more expensive.
We also stopped at the Mammoth Caves in Kentucky. There are many other caves too. Our boys (5 and 8) really enjoyed them. It was very adventurous and a little bit scary for them to go into the caves.
When we do roadtrips I usually use Travelocity or Hotels.com to book the rooms. It seems the easiest way to compare prices and services.
